It won't make him into a PPV star for sure, but it will make him the man at 160 and perhaps more importantly will mean he's in the driving seat. Those 3 straps are a powerful bargaining tool. If Danny ain't gonna fight for the 3 trinkets when he gets the chance what's he actually planning to do at MW?
I'm not saying 25% is a good deal, and certainly can't blame him for pushing for more (though I suspect he has been offered more - possibly 30%), but at the end of the day what else is there for him at 160? Kid should roll the dice.
A win over Golovkin essentially earns Jacobs a fight with Alvarez, and like you pointed out, gives him a foundation to become a genuine star. But his team doesn't see it that way, that want their big prize up front.
Golovkin was willing to fight Darren Barker, basically for free in the UK, but Danny's too good for 25%? If Jacob's drops out of this fight he deserves to remain an undercard fighter in Reading, PA.Comment

That's my only issue with GGG fans. Ok so say Jacobs wins the fight and a rematch happens. I bet $$$$$ to donuts GGG fans will scream bloody murder on Jacobs then getting 75% and GGG 25%. They would say all the excuses we've already heard.
Jacobs doesn't have fans
Jacobs doesn't even sell out his hometown.
Blah, blah....Heck they think Canelo/GGG is a 50/50 split??? They're insane.Comment

Edit: In WBO Golovkin isn't even in the top 15 at MW? Wow, Tommy Langford, Monroe, Stevens, Lemieux, NDam, etc are all there! LolLast edited by doninlouisiana; 10-13-2016, 11:02 AM.Comment

Jacobs is a nobody who struggles to sell seats. Hes not a name, not a star. Hes just an American. Thats it. Nothing special about him to be demanding anything.Comment

Danny wants money to lose and GGG needs a quality opponent. If K2 has to give a 60/40 split to make it happen then it's worth it. However the split says nothing about the size of the pot. W/O ppv, I don't think the pot is big enough to satisfy Jacobs regardless of the split%. And this is not a ppv fight.Comment

That is the fight the want. It gives them a belt that GGG isn't a mandatory for. Where they can fight a few mandatories and make more money, and then be in a better position leverage wise when it comes time to negotiate a fight with GGG in the future, since GGG isn't even ranked in the top 15 in the WBO, they can negotiate from the stand of having the last belt at 160, and not being a mandatory that can be forced to fight him.Comment
