You're right about that. haymon not giving the media the time of day has rubbed them the wrong way, but I've never seen him labeled as a promoter, usually its adviser or manager. THe reason Ring does it is because of Oscar's lawsuit in which he wants to use the Ali law against Haymon so he needs Haymon to be a promoter as well as manager.

The fact that it was for a press release makes it more suspect because the event in question had nothing to do with what the writer was going on about

If anything, Abramson made it a point to protect Russell from being misquoted.

But honestly, if DLH, Ring Mag. or anyone else wanted to put Haymon on blast, they'd be better off going through some of the more recognizable fighters in his stable, who actually stay in the mix.
