  • Why isn't Daniel Jacobs a Superstar?

Jacobs vs Quillin was the biggest fight that could be made at MW without GGG in the ring. Yet it only did 400k in viewers on Showtime and failed to sellout. Why is it that Jacobs isn't a draw? Is he proof of Haymows inability to build stars? He has speed, power, finishes fights, and has the best back story in all of boxing. Yet this doesn't translate to being a draw. Why?

This is true, I don't know why he has it all.

Because under the PBC banner fighters loose all momentum. Jacobs vs Quillen didn't sell well because Jacobs fought Mora before that and Quillen had a boring fight with Lee.

The Quillen fight should have made Jacobs star power sky rocket....and it would have but instead of capitalizing on all the hype he waits 10 months then fights Mora again in Reading to a bored crowd on Spike.

i remember he was on course to be the next big thing before the pirog KO

the time it took to rebuild after that and also beat cancer just killed all of his momentum i guess

I don't think he is elite, and I don't think he ever will be. I think that is the main reason. He is like a Devon Alexander, good fighter, world champion material, but he isn't brilliant. Lets me be kind of brutally honest, good African American fighters are a dime a dozen in most era's, people are only interested in outstanding one's. That is the reality of the situation.

Bad comparison. I know Devon, great guy but he has lost to types of guys Daniel knocks out.

Honestly I wonder if he would be in a better position had he been with Arum.

I agree. It goes back to me questioning if Haymon can build fighters. He pays them too much for a tune up and then waits so long that it ends up being another tune up with no momentum going in. *cough* Garcia *cough*

There are plenty of fighters that aren't elite though who do much better ratings though.

Well by the time Quillin and Jacobs fought they were both seen as massively ducking GGG. Particularly Quillin so nobody really cared all that much.

I'm actually a huge Danny fan and I don't dislike Quillin and kind of like his style but they're just too passive with their careers and act like divas with the pay. Saying s hit like certain fighters dont pay, etc etc. Quillin going life and death with Lee and Jacobs over here fighting Sergio f ucking Mora twice and getting dropped by a jab by the lightest punching ma. They're just not active enough

                  Walters gets very low ratings.

Is the context in relation to Gennady Golovkin?

Because I assure you PBC has a list of boxers... check it out. Since Golovkin is becoming synonymous with Ward vs Kovalev lately.... well Haymon has a fighter at 175 atm named Beterbiev in case those other fights don't happen.. that is of course if Golovkin wants that challenge and not at 164.

lost me with ''African American'' fighters and the eras of boxing. you also criticized ''eliteness.'' Geez I wonder what it would feel like to lace up gloves at the championship level and beating cancer... I wonder..
