Maidana did improve. Devon was able to pick him apart since he wasn't as aggressive.

alexander was a good fither on his night, awkward and rangy. think he'd always give maidana trouble style wise. However i do think maidana improved a hell of a lot, usually think the effect of a trainer is exaggerated but maidana was a lot better under garcia, much cleverer with his attacks.

Styles make fights. People try to pretend it was a completely different fighter but it's clear that Maidana's awkward angled punches threw a wrench into Floyd's game (for a few rounds at least). Devon doesn't fight like Floyd and his style happened to play better against Maidana. In the center of the ring, at range, Devon did not do as well as Floyd did. The ropes and the clinch were the difference.
