De la hoya vs Whitaker ?

I just watched this fight over again and I know that both are HOF's and Pernell was 33 and aging. But that shows how great he was, but anyway they took a point from Pernell for the accidental head butt. And Merchant who loves Delahoya had Pernell ahead a point going into the last,RJJ said he believed that Pernell had the fight under control as well. I felt that it was a extremely close fight that could of been a draw or pernell the winner as did the commentators. Mostly because the point pernell lost was b.s.(accidental butt) and oscar lost a round 10-8 because his knee and glove touched the canvas he wasn't hurt but it was the correct call so I felt that should of atleast gotten Pernell a draw. And the judges cards were like Oscar by 3 or 4 points. Just curious to see wat you guys thought?

Last time I watched it I couldn't see robbery. Whittaker wasn't controlling the fight, Oscar was. He was the effective aggressor and was leading on my cards most of the way.

I don't remember what my exact card was...but I had oscar winning by a few points. I thought he deserved to win, and won that fight.

      not a robbery...a close fight.

basically you would have scored it for pernell if you gave him the middle rounds when he was making dlh look like a fool by making him miss and jabbing him to death.

i thought whitaker won that fight by a round or two, but back then out here in vegas it used to be called " Oscar De La Vegas " because he would get any close decision or i should say the judging was bias in oscars favor......more money to be made with the golden boy then the sweat pea........

Yea I know Oscar is the golden boy, but Pernell is a legend and to have Oscar winning by four points is just crazy. I didn't think it was a robbery but seeing as the 10-8 round for pernell and a point off for a accidental butt. I didn't see anything less then a draw or Pernell victory and I'm not a Oscar hater just so ppl won't think I'm tryna knock him but it's not like Pernell is some bumm where you say give it to Oscar this guy sucks or whatever and he was the champ. Even the HBO boys who love Oscar said they felt a draw or slight edge for Pernell going into the 12. It's the most awkward I've seen a great fighter in De la hoya look so how did you think Oscar controlled the fight RUN WITH Knives? And compubox numbers had more punches landed and at a higher percentage for Pernell, tho Oscar probably had more power shot's.

              With effective aggression.

Oh and compubox numbers are skewed but they don't apply to the ten point must system.

Plus I don't see how you could give the fight to someone who is merely back peddling, and trying to frustrate someone.

Don't discredit a legend there are fighters that use great defense and look at Pernell's accomplishments and then talk crazy like that.If you think Oscar won that's fine just interesting that Merchant and the other Oscar lovers even thought a draw or Whitaker ahead. Forget what I think check Bert Sugar or any other Boxing expert and look where Pernell is in ALL TIME P4P rankings. And Tito and oscar beat an older ******* using sweat p and Oscar still had his hands full. Winky is another example you may not l;ike his style but he sure does win!
