To me I think Ali, Holmes, Lennox and Vitaly were the best heavies.
Vitali K VS Tyson Fury

Vitali was starting to look awful prior to his retirement, his power had waned a lot and he was starting to become immobile in the ring, he looked like the great khali from wwe (or Frankenstein monster). He was nowhere near what he was in his prime
Add in 4 years out of the ring and there's no way in hell he beats fury. No amount of hating on fury is gonna change thatComment

All versions of Vitali get beat by Fury. Vitali vs Lennox, Vitali vs Chisora & Mayor Vitali. Fury is a better Boxer full stop.Comment

Vitali is a much different animal than Wladimir. I think Vitali stops Fury around nine or ten. Fury might even go the distance but I see Vitali throwing no matter what. I never saw him freeze up against anybody. Wlad is almost too cerebral, having to find his clear advantage at some point to give him confidence. Vitali always had confidence anyway. Definitely see Vitali winning either way, even now, although it would be closer due to his age.^This. Vitali didn't go through mental blocks. He knew when to let a guy throw and waste his energy and when to pick him apart. And, pick them apart he did. Anyone who watched a large number of his fights knows they were akin to a cat with a mouse. He wasn't in any rush, he just cruelly and methodically dismantled them.
It was not the tense, mathematical type of thing that you see Wlad involved in. If Vitali stopped throwing, it was only due to an injury, in which case he would start using the other arm. An active Vitali wouldn't be bothered by anything Fury has to offer. Too strong a chin, too hard a punch, and too high an output.
It would be fun to hangout with you guys over a beer and discussing the same observations I have as you guys.. Red - remember the hook jab thing we were talking about on a thread.. I haven't met many who compound point out certain nuances to Vitaki's game which is effective to his awkwardness..Comment

Beers and boxing talk- two things I never get to do at the same time. Haha. Would be great. I think Red's knowledge eclipses my own, though. He picks up on things I don't. We've had a few disagreements but he's one of the most solid posters on here if not the most. And you're pretty awesome too, Boxingfan. Look forward to more posts and discussions. As you say, hopefully over a beer someday. It would be fun to hangout with you guys over a beer and discussing the same observations I have as you guys.. Quick thoughts on it (coming from someone who thinks Fury is the best HW to come along in years)...
Old Vitali didn't really have the ability to be as flexible from the waist as he once was, but he still was a very good judge of distance...and he is just a more natural fighter than his brother....those 3 factors alone make a fight vs old Vitali interesting to me. I could see him just tap tapping Fury as he pulled back, and Fury came up short. Fury is a good inside fighter, but Vitali knew how to create space with his waist to punch where Wlad instinctively goes for the clinch or meltdownsLast edited by LA_2_Vegas; 10-05-2016, 11:23 PM.Comment
