I'm legitimately wondering who took a flat fee on a PPV. I was reading Marquez saying GGG should get a split but did he get one against Pacquiao? I wanna say Canelo got a pretty low purse against Floyd but did he get a part of the PPV?
Name a fighter who took a flat fee for a PPV fight

For big fights, its generally a percentage. For small ppv fights, like Golovkin vs Lemieux or Canelo vs Lara, they generally get a flat amount and then they start getting an upside of ppv $ if the sales reach a certain number (which they usually don't). For very small ppv fights like Crawford vs Postol, both fighter's get flat fees, period.Last edited by PK3434; 10-03-2016, 01:28 PM.Comment

From the Mayweather-Cotto fight on, I have no doubt that Timothy Bradley (in the first Pacquiao fight), Sergio Martinez and Chavez Jr in their fight, Robert Guerrero, Brandon Rios, Alfredo Angulo, Marcos Maidana (for both Floyd fights), Sergio Martinez (in the Cotto fight), Erislandy Lara, Chris Algieri, Andre Berto, and Liam Smith all ended up fighting on PPV for flat fees. And those are just the obvious one (my guess is that Marquez, like Maidana did for Argentina, or Alvarez, ended up taking the lion's share of the Mexico money).
Alvarez, in all likelihood, likely ended up with getting a piece of the PPV (likely at a level above whatever the cost was to cover Floyd's guarantee) for the simple fact that he was able to say no to Floyd, stage his own event, and put 40k people into the Alamodome to see him fight Austin Trout (while also drawing a big TV rating).
Golovkin has an offer for $10m on the table; Marquez can project out the scale of the event as far as he wants, Golovkin (unless the likey Jacobs PPV shows something different) doesn't have a fight where he can get hallf that amount with Alvarez.Comment
