  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Options Lacking at 168, No Reason To Move Up

At the moment, there is no reason for Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) to make a move to 168-pounds - according to trainer Abel Sanchez. Golovkin, holder of the IBO/WBC/WBA/IBF middleweight titles, is focused on unifying the entire division before a decision is made to move up.

This is hilarious. Canelo fights a nobody and sells 51k tickets. Abel just told all you nuthuggers ggg isn't popular in the US. He has to either fight zurdo (Mexican fan base) or in the UK to sell a fight. That's all you need to know for him refusing to sign the fight with Canelo.

Or he can do what he claims EVERY GOOD fighter does to him and "Prices themselves out of a fight". I bet ANYONE else not named Floyd, Pac, GGG would fight Canelo for $10,000,000 + a % of PPV buys.

Zurdo or Saunders? DeGale or Eubank Jr.? I like the 168 options better!

yep, golovkin has unfinished business at middleweight. lets not criticise a guy for fighting in his natural weight class, hes not even a big middleweight

This is why trainers like Abel should shut the hell up and focus on training. He's not a boxer, promoter or publicist. He has no clue how idiotic he sounds and he just makes Golovkin look bad.

GGG deserves better than this clown. Abel shouldn't even try to represent him in any way.

ggg has been consistent in past couple yrs about wanting unify the division. He needs to complete that goal. Such a hard thing to achieve now a days with so many belts. And even harder for him because he is avoided often. Plus canelo and him need to fight. 168 is not deep class anyhow.
