but talking sh*! on a forum without your real name gives your opinions credence?
You know more about boxing in general than Sanchez does?
Why aren't you in the business?
Why don't you state your name and give your credentials?
Do you think Abel calls the interviewers every other day to visit him?
Don't you realize without his comments you would have to actually do something! HA!

Alright enough of this pizzing off the bridge, you clowns who think you know more than the people who work in the sport are the saddest fools in all of sports.
therealpugilist====translation ..thefakefighter====just another know it all without an ounce of experience in the sport. The lil' haters never shut up!

      2) beat jeff harding for the 175 wbc title and was a huge 154 fighter who was in his 30s and filled out

3)Jones started at 154, like GGG, and won titles at 160, 168, 175 and went on to defeat several fighters who won titles at 175 or higher like McCallum, reggie Johnson, Del vALLE, Tarver, clinton woods, Julio Cesar Gonzalez, John Ruiz, Virgil Hill and cleaned out 175 with the exception of Dariiusz Michalcewski in his era

      4) How is Jones a hypcrite when he has won titles at 160, 68, 75, and heavyweight

if he doesnt think GGG will have success at the higher weights, he can say that instead of make a fool out of himself
Abel will obviously want to protect GG's name. That's fine. It's to be expected. But he's gone about this the wrong way.

All he had to say was simple:

"I respect Roy's opinion, but we have goals to accomplish at MW before we'll consider moving up"

      That's it.

          The real issue is RISKS
In comparison to Jones and other former p4p entrants he hasn't taken the kinds of risks they have

Jones had wins over 4 former or future champs like GGG has now by his 23rd pro fight lol

@ 24 years old....GGG is in his mid 30s bro

Jones was criticized heavily for who he fought yet accomplished plenty
I'm with you man, but everyone's circumstances are different.

I don't mind Roy asking him to move up. Because he did it himself. When he wanted a big fight after beating Bernard in 93, he moved up for Toney. When he'd beaten Toney but he couldn't get unification fights with Benn and Liles, he moved up to LHW. Then when he'd done all he could at LHW and he couldn't get fights with Dariusz M or a rematch with Bernard, he moved up to HW. You've got to respect that. But on the other hand, you have to realise that GG is smaller, and it looks as though fights against Jacobs, BJS and Canelo may be possible to make within the next 12-18 months. So you've got to be objective. I love Roy. I must be one of his biggest fans. But he'd have remained longer at SMW if he could have got the fights. But again, I can see why he wants GG to move up to challenge Andre and Kov, because there'd be great fights. But I'd like to see him be respectful. There's nothing wrong with anyone wanting GG to move up, but in my opinion, it's very harsh if people criticise him for not having done so as yet.

Abel is one of few trainers today that can be interviewed by any publication and not have to be censored. He speaks directly and from his experiences in the sport. He is a self made man who earned a living outside boxing so his decisions are based on logic not needs.

I don't always agree with his view point but in this case I do.
Far to much is made of moving to higher weight classes by novice fans who only can draw from the past twenty years to form opinions.
Some of the greatest boxer in history stayed at one weight class their entire careers.
Just because a few men out grew their beginning weights doesn't mean it's the normal progression.
            Ray

amateur light heavy was 178lbs for Dawson.
I get what you're saying but I think you missed the point.

harsh? he's 34. Gennady's capacity is 160. Abel should've left it at that. If no one wants to fight him at 160 and insists to collect all the belts proves what? Admittance that he preferred a division where nobody wanted to fight him when common sense tells you that challenges are Northbound?

People don't seem to realize that IF HBO and Loeffler REALLY wanted to, they would've gotten the money one way or another and offered it Saunders for the WBO. Let's see how long that takes. I'm down with Golovkin staying at 160 to fight Saunders, Jacobs, and Alvarez.

We just don't want to hear the excuse, "well, Golovkin was 35...."

$5 bucks it happens. And the grim reaper here will be ready for that trolling!

                    Yes, it's harsh.

                    Again, everyone's circumstances are different.

There's no need for him to move up yet while there's a chance of securing those MW fights. Also, the next logical step would be SMW. But there's no doors open there at the moment. In a perfect world, he would fight Jacobs, BJS and Canelo, and then look to fight DeGale or Ramirez.

To get BJS in the ring, they'll have to find the money. And I think they will. I think he'll go back to the U.K. for it. I think it would be a bigger fight though if Matchroom and Sky promoted it rather than BoxNation.

                      .
Again, it's not complicated. WBA Promoted, WBC Promoted, Lemeiux attempted one defense with the IBF. nothing glorious to boast about in collecting all the belts at a late age. I guess if that's as good as it gets for Golovkin, then I can see how people justify it.

                      Golovkin is the next Calzaghe
