Where you talking about Smith or GGG? My comment was in reference to the 600k ppv that Canelo did with Khan. It's no secret that expectation of a bigger fight can boost views, its the reason why every promoter talks about a fighters next fight and the big names coming next. It's the reason why Pac got major bumps in PPV when he was perceived as a threat to Mayweather, once people began to think the fight would never happen or that Pac couldn't beat Mayweather his numbers began to nose dive. Expectation can create a rediculous amount of interest, and interest brings in the viewers. PPV buys are not a linear number, if that were the case, Mayweather vs Pac should have only done 2 million, Cotto vs Canelo should have only done 600k, and so on.To expect a 50% collapse in PPV business is a pretty big value to put on not fighting a guy who still doesn't stage the full Forum and HBO, after 4 years of work, still isn't confident enough in to take a second chance on on PPV.
We'll see what Canelo does on his next fight (with Golden Boy hot-shotting things straight to a May PPV, Oscar's going to have to look for someone who can bring some positive attention to the matchup).Comment

If the PPV boxing public, before the fight, knew that the Golovkin fight wasn't happening next, the event would've still done about what it ended up doing; 400k instead of the near 500k.Where you talking about Smith or GGG? Its the best way. GGG is B-side by a LONG margin. This is the guy who had to travel to the backyard of a WW despite being Unified MW Champion.Comment

Let me see, Canelo says I'll fight him, I'm ready after Cotto. Nope.
Canelo says I'll fight him after Khan, nope.
Canelo says he vacates belt to negotiate the fight, but ends up fighting Smith and kicking the GGG fight 18 months down road.
And then wants GGG to take a flat fee a year before the fight.
Ok, yea, sure, they want the fight.
Yeah that's probably because Canelo is the A-Side. What exactly does GGG bring to the table? We are talking about a guy who had to travel to a WW's country. We are not even going to get in the PPV #s.Comment

Lemieux vs Mexican independence day? Even Floyd knows the value of that date. Nobody argues Canelo us the bigger draw but clearly Ggg is no flat fee opponent. Who do you think Canelo fights next may, some Ggg victim? How much is that gonna sell?Comment

That is Canelo's prerogative for being born Mexican.
Well, given how quick they took him off PPV. He is most certainly a flat fee fighter, what is to say he isn't besides his trinkets which are worth what? when he has to travel to a WW's country.
Canelo vs Smith doing 200 K for such a lackluster fight is quite amazing actually if you think about it. Even Khan was quite good despite being a mismatch.Comment
