Oscar vs Floyd, is a Lose-Lose Situation for Oscar.

If Oscar beats Floyd, people will say that he beat a much smaller man in Floyd. It was a mismatch and to be expected. If Floyd beats Oscar, Floyd will posibly get branded as the best fighter of all time for climbimg the 154lbs weightclass, beating de la hoya, and getting a 5th World title for his 5th division. The fight won't even be about Oscar, it'll be about Floyd. Anyone else sees it this way?

I think if the fight happens at 147 they can't say that. If its a catchweight of 150-151 then maybe you are right and yoiu are certianly right if it happens at 154. THat said, boxing fans are overreactionary so there would probably be 150 posts saying that Floyd wasn't that good anyways. People are idiots. Some people want to say Oscar is the best fighter alive after last night because he beat a guy he was supposed to while others don't want to give him any credit. There is no context to anything being said today

I see this fight as a passing of the torch fight. De La Hoya performed well against a popular journeyman, but Mayweather is a different type of animal. De La Hoya might pull it off, he's got a great shot, but I don't pick anyone over Mayweather.

Oscar has already established his place in boxing history. A fight with PBF is all about the money. Its the best option for Oscar, as he will probably sign PBF to his GoldenBoy Promotions, so if he wins he solidifies his place in history as one of the greats and if he loses to him he still promotes his next 2 or 3 fights and makes millions.

They both win the moment the contact is signed.

I personally think that Floyd is going to start his own promotion company soon so I don't think he'll join GoldenBoy although it is possible

not at all. if oscar wins this fight he goes on to show that his dominace over the lower divisions has been long standing and he was able to take his successor down bfore retireing. if oscar beats floyd it is a good situation for them both and if floyd beats oscar it is also good for them both. if floyd wins then he gets to beat his predecessor and show that he is now on top, and oscar gets to go out with a ****.

You guys are all wrong. Floyd will clearly be much smaller then Oscar at 154 but its not the 1st time it has happened in boxing. If Oscar wins then he will still get alot of credit for that victory.

How can beating the #1 pound for pound guy be a loss? Add to that people hate Floyd and love Oscar, so you know Oscar will get the credit and the money would be unmatched.

Bottom line is how can people not give Oscar credit when before the Mayorga fight "no one" was picking Oscar to beat Floyd even at 154

I don't see Floyd as a "much smaller man" than DLH. Floyd looks big at 147 and DLH started at 130, just like Floyd. Frame-wise they are very close in size. Weight-wise they are fairly close as well.

But DLH's best days are well behind him, so I think it's actually Floyd who has nothing to gain. If he beats him, so what? Most would say that the DLH of the mid-90's would beat him. If Floyd loses, then a past-his-best DLH beat him, and then you have to start really looking at Floyd's resume. Really his most impressive win was against Corrales. He's 1-1 with Castillo, in 2 boring as hell fights where nothing was really solved. Since then, he's dodged the best fights.

I'd give DLH a serious chance, even past his best, to beat Floyd.

at 154lbs, Oscar is expected to beat Floyd in my opinion. Floyd is best at 140lbs and he'll fight Oscar 14lbs away from his territory. That's a big disadvantage.

I'm just wondering how much credit someone would give to a fighter who is as big as Floyd and happens to beat him when people would actually praise De la hoya big time when he's the one to do it. De la hoya should be favored in this fight.
