I'm a huge Ramirez fan and I was one of the main people hyping him up and I thought he was underrated, but I think people are starting to overrate him now. He's not as talented as Rigondeaux that's for sure, not even close. I thought he struggled in three of his bouts. I'm not as confident as everybody else that he will bring a third gold medal. Again, it depends how good 56kg is in 2020.
The problem with Ramirez is that he takes a lot of time off (in rounds). I have no idea why he does this.

That's very unfortunate to hear. But a great lesson I'm sure.
Castro has to be the sloppiest boxer I have ever seen but his opponents have trouble dealing with it. I'm interested in seeing how he deals with Frankham (who is a really good boxer) and Piskunov. Piskunov has a difficult style to deal with. He reminds me a little bit of Pacquiao; not sure if Russia will be sending Piskunov though, they should considering that he has been one of the most successful underage fighters for Russia ever. Castro vs. Coughlan would be a war.
More and more American fighters are turning pro at early ages. Ryan Garcia who just won the Youth Nationals also turned pro. He should have waited until the Youth World Championships at least.
Robeisy definitely gets lazy, that's why he gives away some rounds and even fights, in the fight against the Moroccan he even got dropped, but he is a great fighter, the last round against the Uzbek, was my favorite round in the tournament and to be fair, he faced tough opposition since the first fight, i still don't know how Shiva Tapa didn't receive a bye early. But he isn't more talented than Rigo but imo he has a huge asset that Rigo doesn't have and that is that Robeisy is a fighter with a lot of pride, he really likes to put on a show.
In the case of Melikuziev, he has some things that they teach to the Uzbeks that i don't like, but he is getting better and better, his performance against Vikas and Rodriguez were awesome, in some moment Rodriguez told him to stop moving and start to fight him at close and he battered Rodriguez from pillar to post.

To be honest i'm not much into the youths, i was back then when i used to talk with Shakur who was the best youth in the world.
But i thing that the youth championship is underrated, Melikuziev, Finol and Stevenson, all did it good at the youth champs and later won olympic medals.

Oh yeah, Robeisy would definitely make a better pro because he loves to fight and put on a show. And he definitely had a difficult draw. 56kg draws are always messed up. Oscar Valdez had to go though three top opponents just to potentially get a medal.
What are some of the things you don't about the Uzbek school specifically about Melikuziev?
Youth and Junior boxing is definitely not as interesting as Elite amateur boxing but it's fun to look at the talent of tomorrow. Even though the majority will never end up becoming anything. And usually when the Youth or Junior World Championships are on there isn't any other major tournament going on anyway so why not watch.
Here's a Castro fight from last years Junior World Championships : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5fhIkvZucY&t=1h17m
There are some good fights there besides the Castro fight. You can find the finals and semifinal from the Junior World Championships if you haven't seen them already.

The Uzbek school teach their fighters with that hands down style that doesn't helps every fighter, actually, Dusmatov and Zoirov (the surprise of the games) fight with their hands up, they look better, they also waste a lot of energy on unnecessary movement and like to throw really wide punches.
Talking about Melikuziev in specific, i don't like when he throws those wild punches and how he always keeps both hands low.

I remember the draw of Valdez, it was awful, sadly he got eliminated by a good fighter on Nevin and even dropped him in the last.
On the other side, the other part of the draw only had Shakur and Conlan.

The youth championships are fun because they show raw talent, i first saw Finol in the youth championship of 2014 and i knew he was a serious talent so it was good to see him getting a medal in Rio.

Yeah, I definitely agree with some of the things you're saying. The Uzbek school is definitely a little different. But they're producing some really nice boxers at the moment.
I'm not a huge fan of fighters keeping their hands low. Unfortunately, one of the young boxers that I'm really high on keeps his hands low. I hope he can fix that.
Valdez has improved a lot since the amateurs. He just needed to be polished. He had so much raw talent and I think his coach is doing a great job with him. The only time I'll root against will be when he fights my boy Lomachenko.

If you have time watch some of those fights from the video I posted and tell me what you think. The lower weights are worth a watch. The higher weights are so, so. I would say 60kg and below are worth a watch. And the higher weights are up to you.
These youth championships coming up should be fun especially 56kg.

Valdez was just unlucky in both draws at 2012 and 2008 but he is a big talent, his last fight was one of my favorites performances of the year but he needs to fight a live body.
There is nothing to say about Lomachenko that hasn't been said, he is my second favorite active boxer and i like that he is trying to make his fights exciting.

I will watch the Castro fight right now and the others later, i hope the aiba does a good coverage this time.

Robeisy Ramirez is hands down the best and most accomplished fighter to compete at the rio Olympics.

He would make a helluva pro.

                Yes.
He fought the best opposition in the olympics besides Giyasov, and beat them all at their own game.

                    Update:
-The Honduras boxer (he is from United States but his category was on the trials because Carlos Balderas was already qualified) Teofimo Lopez, won by K.O. in two rounds, but was also dropped himself, looked sharp, Teofilo lost to the eventual silver medalist, Sofiane Oumiha of France in his first in Rio.
-In the same card (Pacquaio vs Vargas), the lightweight gold medalist, Robson Concenciao from Brazil, won his pro debut by decision, he landed a lot of body shots, looking kinda different from his amateur style.
-Charles Conwell, the middleweight boxer from USA, was signed by Split T Management, would make his debut at welterweight, with Conwell signed, Nico Hernandez turning pro on the undercard of the Terence Crawford and Carlos Balderas signing with Richard Schaefer, that means that half of the USA squad is signed.
-Also Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor, both won their pro debuts, opening the doors of women boxing to a new era.
