Comments Thread For: Canelo-Golovkin: Promoters Agree To Sit Down in Two Weeks

In a move that may see both sides come closer to reaching an agreement, Golden Boy Promotions - who handle WBO 154-pound champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34KOs) - and Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who guide WBC/IBO/IBF/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs) - have agreed to sit down in two weeks to negotiate the terms.

Gomez is a punk like his bf Oscar

Ggg has virtually all the belts and sells tickets well

But there is no doubt canelo is the a side! But they have to be fair here - on a fight that will no doubt hit at least well over 600k ppv - personally I could see it break a million or at least touch the 900k canelo and cotto produced

Anyway at 70 quid ppv - that is at least 35 quid to golden boy per ppv 35x900k = 31.5 million

That does not include advertising and selling the fight world wide!

Why ggg accept a flat figure of ten million when if he takes say 40%

So canelo gets 60-40, comes in last, has a massive ring, gets the corner to pick blah blah

60-40 is a fair number IMO

But I would rather have 40% of the overall number than the flat 10 million

Abel and Loeffler will agree to the flat fee. 15% Golovkin takes at best. It's all about who's done what in PPV.

This reality really hurts Loeffler and Abel. Alvarez still has years to go. By that time Lil'G will be forgetten since he never moved to 168

i still dont think canelo is scared never was i think its always been about the promoters on both sides not just gbp and i fully expect this fight to come to fruition. nothing wrong with ggg fighting jacobs and canelo fighting maybe saunders or even a stevens at 160 so he can fight at 160 at least once before ggg. honestly i think fans need to calm down and quit being so paranoid and picking sides. as long as fans smarten up and quit being fan boys and blame both sides not just 1 this fight will get made but as long as fans give certain sides passes it wont

70/30 for Canelo is fair since he's the draw. 20-30% is still an absolute **** ton of money.

                60-40 is suitable split.

hope people are prepared to be disappointed. canelo has no intention of fighting GGG. These aren't serious negotiations, one hurdle will be in front of another in order to make sure the fight doesn't happen. if ggg agrees to 80:20 split, they will then say oh wait its got to be 90/10. Then they will say its got to be at 157. Canelo is scared of the boogeyman, he can write off one loss to Mayweather as him being young etc. What happens to his so called 'star power' once GGG demolishes him. ANd trust me that's exactly what happens, if you cant dodge GGG's punches you are in trouble, and canelo couldn't dodge a ****ing lorry, defense is dog**** and you would think he had concrete in his boots with his slow plodding footwork

GGG did 150K. Canelo did 300K.

Loeffler should shoot for 60/40 split , then 65/35, then 67/33 and final position is 70/30.

Honestly, you have to take into account at what will likely be happening in the intervening months and what that will do to hype the fight.

Canelo will fight somebody like Rosado or some other MW seen as a non-threat whereas likely that Golovkin will try to fight Jacobs and Saunders and clear out MW so his hype will be way bigger by the time next September rolls around while Canelo will most likely be getting heat for fighting Rosado or similar.
