It flopped because DLH & GBP were saying that Canelo's numbers would beat the Pac/Margarito numbers. From that standpoint it was a huge flop. Even if they weren't aiming to beat Pac's ppv in Cowboys Stadium, 250-300k buys is still a flop.

ODL also said Mosley/Mayweather would do 3 million buys and that Cotto/Canelo would do 2 million buys. Are those flops because Oscar always makes outlandish statements before a fight he promotes happens? He does it every time and its funny to see people jump on those statements.
I guarantee you HBO didn't expect Pac/Margacheato PPV numbers, anyone with a brain knew this one would do low PPV buys. But that fight needed to do those numbers as Pacquaio got paid much more than Canelo. The money was in the live gate and site fee on this one.

Just stop it, dude. Just stop. 300k for Mexican Independence Day is a flop. No other way to look at it. If this was FMJ, it would be considered an extreme flop. But because we understand this is Canelo, we can expect at least half the draw of FMJ to buy his ppv. Canelo/Smith couldn't even generate half-a-million...not even close to that number. That's called a flop. No matter how many angles you want to look at it...no matter how many times you want to slice it...at the end of the day, it's still s##t.
