Nailed it - but Canelo fans will never understand this.

Canelo is the guy who works with guy that draws the money. That hasn't changed.

I mean who offers flat terms for a fight over a year out? That's clearly not a serious offer.

Luckily, Team GGG has responded with a serious offer to Team Canelo, and now it's up to Team Canelo to prove they want the fight by accepting a real offer, or they can duck the fight again just like they ducked after the Cotto fight by fighting Khan instead, just like they ducked after the Khan fight by dropping the belt, even though both times they said they would fight GGG but then reneged on their word.

It's gotten to a point where Canelo's team has lost all credibility. Canelo as well. Because they've made promises but then reneged on those promises. They've said things and then done the opposite immediately afterwards. So we can no longer rely on their word. After they already broke their promises multiple times, it actually shows the class of Tom Loeffler and his forgiving nature in this regard that he's even willing to continue operating with verbal agreements with Canelo's team, after they've already broken verbal commitments before. Remember when Oscar said Tom better have his phone on because they would make GGG-Canelo next? But then instead they delayed negotiations for a month hoping GGG would move on, but then when Team GGG smartly waited them out and called their bluff, they dropped the belt?

GGG stills respects box, and will make fair deals as always, but in the end if your opponent is scared to fight you, there's not much you can do. It will be up to Canelo now to tell Oscar he wants this fight, and to make a fair deal. Team GGG as usual has done everything possible to make the fight. They stepped aside to let Cotto-Canelo happen first when they requested that. They let Canelo-Khan happen when Team Canelo requested more time. They have bent over backwards trying to appease Team Canelo but when someone is scared to fight you, there's nothing you can do to force them into the ring with you. We saw as much with Floyd Mayweather. But hopefully Jacobs steps up and we get GGG-Jacobs in December. Kovalev-Ward in November, GGG-Jacobs in December, and hopefully they can sneak in Lomachenko-Walters or something like that... that's a couple high quality fights by HBO which is about all you can expect with their modest budget.

Let's hope that's what happens. Kovalev-Ward, GGG-Jacobs, a good Lomachenko fight, and hopefully some good undercard fights. Maybe Estrada-Cuadras on the undercard of Kovalev-Ward, since that PPV could use Mexicans on the undercard if they want to sell PPVs lol. Quality wise, that would be the best end to an HBO year in recent memory. Quantity wise, they need a bigger budget so they can maintain the quality, but add more fights in general. But for the budget they have, they are much better off going with quality over quantity, and if we get GGG-Jacobs and one or two more good fights, I will be happy.

Hell, this is what boxing fans have been waiting years to see! Good opponents willing to fight Kovalev and GGG so we can see how good they are against the top level guys. GGG already fought one truly top athlete with speed, power, china, etc, in David Lemieux, but Kovalev-Ward and GGG-Jacobs in back-to-back months is really what fans have been wanting to see. Get it done HBO! Quality first! Quantity is only important to the extent it maintains the highest quality matchups! No tuneups! No showcases!
so now 10 mill is a crazy offer?? canelo earned 12 mill vs floyd on a much bigger fight than this that generated almost twice the money, and he event had to go down in weight... but the red kid really wanted that fight and it didnt take much to get it done...

From Ward to Canelo, apparently Triple G just has to accept every **** offer they give him. Why can't the other dudes make better offers?

Spot on and canelo at the time he fought Floyd was AL READY a bigger draw them GGG is right now. It's laughable but just proves who has been the real road block from day 1. This entitled bytch that don't know his place in the game. So phuk him let the parade pass him by. Canelo only 26 and can fight anyone and it will be a big deal and on ppv. Let GGG waste his career away fighting bums like wade. He will never step up his competition because they will always find a new excuse to kill fights. Worst resume of any so called top fighter and he's 35 already. If he was the top fighter with top rank, golden boy, haymon his career would be way better off. K2 look like a joke

There has NEVER been a situation where GGG's team priced him out of a fight, so Im not sure why you clowns are so opposed to his team actually trying to negotiate.
They are just haters, or Canelo fans. In the U.S. the majority of boxing fans seem to be black racial supremacist types, who only watch boxing to see black people "beat" races they don't like, or Mexicans who obviously have a bias towards Canelo in many cases.

But even outside of Canelo, there are a lot of racially biased fans who just don't like seeing white fighters ruling the sport like Kovalev and GGG. They don't even like seeing any non-black fighter ruling the sport which is why you see the vitriol towards Chocolatito. I mean with GGG there was at least the Ward dispute, and he's become a big star so there's polarization, you can at least find excuses for why people might not like him. But Chocolatito is just this little unassuming guy who went up four divisions, never trash talks, extremely skilled, always in entertaining fights. There is literally nothing to dislike about him but you see the vitriol anyway because it's just about race to some of these "fans" and they see Chocolatito as just another guy who is an obstacle to black fighters being the best.

I never understood this until the last year. Before I was always like, no one actually likes Floyd, right? Everyone is just buying his PPVs to see him lose, right? But then you saw these TMT rallies where he had all these black fans there, and it was clear some people actually liked him. I was like how could anyone root for this boring cherry picker over an exciting fighter like Pacquiao who fought everyone and was the guy actually trying to deliver to fans the fight we wanted to see, as opposed to Floyd who was the obstacle to making that fight? Like why would anyone favor the person keeping them from getting what they want over the person trying to help them get what they want?

That was my first clue. And then when GGG and Kovalev came along, it became extremely obvious. GGG like Chocolatito just this nice guy, trying to give fans all the best fights, extremely entertaining, but they just hated him for no reason, because of his skin color. Meanwhile Andre Ward barely fought for five years, he kept trying to breach his lawful contract with the promoter who helped make him a star, just extremely shady. The courts kept saying the contract was lawful but he just kept trying to screw his promoter anyway. He wasn't delivering any top level fights, and the fights he did have were stylistically awful to watch. He was literally delivering nothing of value to fans and yet these same fans loved him. I didn't understand it back then but now it makes perfect sense. It's a race obsession to them. But if Ward loses to Kovalev, you will suddenly see them claiming that actually Ward is half white, and he never counted as black anyway. I'm serious that's how obsessed some of these fans are with race. When Kovalev and GGG succeed, they try to convince themselves these guys aren't white. I've seen all sorts of racial purity theorizing about them trying to delegitimatize their whiteness. It's crazy. And then if mixed fighters like Ward don't succeed, suddenly they will try to delegitimize their blackness. It's crazy. Before GGG fought Stevens, you saw many of them picking Stevens, rooting for Stevens. Afterwards I literally saw comments saying "he doesn't count as a real black fighter" because "he's not on the top level."

It's just racial stupidity is what it is. Why can't people just come together as humans and have a meritocracy, which is what the USA is supposed to be? Support the people who deserve it on merit, instead of supporting people on the basis of color.

We will find out if Canelo wants to make the fight or not, everyone knows that GGG will sign a reasonable offer. But he didnt work the last 15 years to get lowballed in the biggest fight in boxing when he is already 35 years. Hard work has to pay off.

If Oscar cant make a fair offer, then GGG moves on, Canelo has no belts, he has his casual Mexican fans and cant even get a belt. Who is he fighting? Nobodies. Yeah i bet NSB would love to see that.

Anyway this fight isnt happening for 12 months, real negotiations will start after May 2017 when both fighters have progressed and you can gauge their real market value, alot can happen in one year in boxing.

Somehow ward, canelo and all these fighters are able to make big fights with EVERYONE else but GGG. But you say they are the problems when GGG is the common denomonator and refuses to make a big fight with ANYONE. he bamboozled yall. Hype boy only wants bums like wade. He will never make a fight fans give a phuk about. Finds a new way to kill any fight unless he's a 10 to 1 favorite to win it.
