His fight against Quillin had 267k viewers on Showtime, nobody watches or knows Jacobs except a couple guys in his backyard and some hardcore fans.

If he beats GGG he can become the star of the sport and a Top P4P fighter, will have multiple Major belts, why wouldnt Jacobs take that fight for a reasonable $1.5Million, which equals his highest payday so far?

Specially when this fight is in Jacobs backyard, come on bruh, take the fight and stop asking for laughable money.

Both MSG and Barclays would be open for December 10th.
Let the suits worry about that.

Really? they're gonna waste 4-5 Mill on a Jacobs fight? If HBO is gonna waste that much money, at least save it on a fight that matters like Kovalev vs Stevenson. Or have a new card for the Roman vs Estrada fight. There's a ton fights of amazing fight that could be made on a Canelo fight budget.

Practically doubling the the budget for a single fight for maybe an extra 300k viewers if lucky is ******ed.

Saunders vs Lemieux is still a better fight IMO, or Heiland.
Mini Mike was robbed against N'dam, bro. Watch the fight. Even knocked him down, but the crooked ref decided not to count it.

He's only fought on HBO twice. First time was an unforgettable performance against PWill.

Retirement money. Sometimes you gotta pay a guy extra just so you can add his head to your wall. This will be a big name fight for Golovkin to build his name up for the Alvarez fight. HBO should consider it a marketing investment.

They never did before, but now that Al Haymon wasted all his money, he doesn't have money to pay these guys anymore, so may as well let them go to HBO and get more money so he doesn't have to pay them.

Some PBC fighters are signed with Showtime, like Stevenson and Lara, they can fight on CBS because CBS owns Showtime. Most of PBC's fighters can fight anywhere.

Money shouldnt be an issue, take the fight to the uk, i mean ggg sells out arenas in minutes and he is also a huge ppv star over there, so they shouldnt have a problem paying jacobs similar to what was paid to b side brook...

You can debate all day which fights deserve the money most. Kovalev-Ward is already happening in November so Kovalev-Stevenson wouldn't happen until next year, with next year's budget. I don't think it really carries over, and why make boxing fans wait for a good fight when one is already there to be made?

Additionally, GGG has had more trouble getting top opponents than anyone in the sport. If this is what it takes to get Jacobs in the ring with him, then it's a blessing, just do it. If GGG beats Jacobs maybe he will have more options. It could be a good investment.

Chocolatito fights in the lower weight classes. Those fights cost less $. He's not on GGG's level financially. Sure ideally they could spread this $ out to give us Chocolatito-Inoue (but that's not happening until next year), Lomachenko-Walters, and a few other fights, but like I said Chocolatito-Inoue isn't happening until next year and GGG-Jacobs has to be a higher priority than Lomachenko-Walters right now. Every other fight HBO is eventually going to be able to make if fighters aren't scared. The reason this money has to go to the GGG fight is because it's literally the only way to get these scared opponents in the ring with him.

That's why it's a special circumstance. Fighters overprice themselves when it comes to fighting a monster like GGG, so sometimes the money has to be allocated to overpay them if HBO wants him to have good opponents. This is a very good fight--super power and great chin vs super speed and power, not as great chin... both fighters have advantages. It's #1 vs #2 at the weight. Both guys are extremely athletic with sky high knockout rates. GGG is one of the most powerful middleweights ever, Jacobs is one of the fastest ever. There's only one loss between the two. Bottom line is it's the best two middleweights, and the two most exciting middleweights... Jacobs isn't a big draw at all so financially it's not a huge fight, and Jacobs is lucky this happened to even get 3 mil let alone "more," but for the hardcore fans this is as good a matchup as you will get at middleweight and one of the better, most exciting fights at the upper levels of the sport you can make.

                    Get it done HBO!

Not really. It was always set up so that PBC would air lesser fights on regular cable, while the fighters who are signed with Showtime take there bigger fights to Showtime. Haymon works with multiple promoters who don't have any loyalties to any network so those fights are easy to negotiate for off network. But the only two major promoters with HBO were GBP and Top Rank, both of whom had active lawsuits against Haymon and PBC. Most fights on HBO would have to include one of the two, therefore no fight. Jacobs vs GGG is probably the only fight that can be made with HBO and PBC that doesn't include GBP or Top Rank, and the lawsuits have been settled. With HBO saying just this year that they are now open to working all promoters, I think your just taking shots at PBC.
