Real talk is that is that all these talks were going on while ward was testing the waters and building himself into a light heavyweight.

All props to ward though, he played the pr perfectly. Pretending to negotiate with GGG when he can't make 168 and hasn't fought in 2 years, to get his name back in the spotlight with the end game always being to face Kovalev instead, at a weight he is comfortable at.

He won his olympic gold medal at 178lb after all.

He gets not hate from me for that. I love him as a fighter. I think he will take Kovalev to school. But the whole GGG situation is silly to still be stewing on.

Maybe it gets to him that people say he was ducking GGG, when in reality its never a fight that he could have even made 168 for, much less 164.

He already saw what draining yourself did to Dawson, Ward is smart enough to know that when making the weight becomes too much of an ask, you need to move up.
Why can't GGG fight him at 175? He just fought a guy two divisions lower. He can fight a guy two divisions higher. He'll be in the same no-lose situation Kell was in.

Ward had not actually made a 168 weight since 2013, and doesn't think he could make it now anymore anyway.

Conclusion: the fight was never close to being made, was never easy for either side to make, and nobody is at fault for it not happening.

Both sides will keep accusing each other of duckling because it' a cheap headline, but the truth is it didn't happen.
They were chasing one offs at 168 which is how the Ward talks got so heated.

They could have fought Ward, but chose Lemieaux for business reasons. If they had just said that from the beginning Ward wouldn't be talking.

So I guess you have no problem then with Canelo wanting to fight GGG.... in 2017?

So, what's Ward supposed to say when stacks of scribes keep asking him over and over about this subject?

The guy tried to be tasteful about it for a long time but Sanchez just kept yapping, making up lies.

Love how you talk **** about people believing Sanchez "lies" when you could very well be believing Ward's "lies". Truth is none of us know the exact truth of what happens.

Picking a side and flaunting it as you very much do on the subject shows your willingness to believe anything negative about GGG. Honestly aside from GGG stuff you're a fantastic poster. I think when it comes to GGG you're a bit one eyed though.

Sanchez has been caught in numerous lies. There's youtube videos showing the clown contradicting himself. If you choose to believe him over someone who is widely considered to be honest and forthright, then you're willfully drinking the koolaide. I have no ulterior interest in backing Ward over anyone else. I don't pick based on race, location, or style. I tend to like guys with integrity and I believe he's got more of it than just about any high-profile boxer in the sport. I even like GGG and have only rooted against him ONCE. Jumping my shyt for picking a proven straight-shooter over a proven liar (in Sanchez) is the epitome of picking sides.

Sanches does not = GGG! you can like Golovkin without defending Abe!

Now, I will agree on the idea that much of what goes on in this biz is he said/he said, and the truth usually lies somewhere in-between. For instance, this GGG/Canelo stuff. I don't trust a word Oscar says and I put him right up there with Lofler, Hearn, Duva, and and Sanches as a complete bullshyt artist. Oscar might even be worse, but they're all doing promoter stuff. It's in his job description to deceive. Ward happens to not give a fk about promoting, which is why he's not afraid to dish it like it is. A lot of fighters are that way. Kovalev. To an extent, GGG is even pretty honest, it's his handlers that are the douchebags.

                • Everyone knows Ward was a big SMW, hell he's even stated that making 175 isn't easy for him so just forget all the GGG talk. Gennady is a smallish MW and I think all of it was free publicity for both guys. Ward hasn't fought below 172 in years and should focus on Krusher, Stevenson and then the CW division while GGG stalks Canelo, BJS, Jacobs and then DeGale/Ramirez at SMW.

                    • I could see the GGG/Ward fight happening in 2017,ideally it needs to happen, realistically GGG aint gonner move up to anything more than 168lbs because he s only 5/10 and wouldnt carry more well.I think if they agreed on a 172 catchweight, Ward could still manage that, prob both come in 5/8 lbs heavier come fight night thts doable.I think it would be an interesting fight, a lot of people presume Ward ward move round and pot shot GGG allnight etc and that would be it, isuspect people would be surprised , GGG alot more tactful that we saw with Brook just marching in taking shots looking to knock him out regardless, more like a Lemieux calculated approach.Saunders,Jacobs, poss Eubank, Canelo first then, or before the move up, prob a tune up fight or 2 , De Gale etc then Ward?
