that list, for example, has manny pacquiao and archie moore above muhammad ali. it has oscar de la hoya above ezzard charles ! that you'd even bring it up is awfully telling, dunny boo boo

i just can't take it sometimes. you guys are too much. i'm gonna spit my coffee out.
Classic NE over exaggeration. First off, you should be smart enough to know why I used the boxrec rankings. You also know I wasn't being serious when I did. I posted I don't think he did either..

So you've been reading about boxing since you were 10, Cool.

As for whether he came close, as I said to Tom Cruise its a matter of perspective.

when experts/historians/media members are asked about this he tends to finish in the top 10-25. If because he didn't make it near top 5 you say that isn't close, ok I get that.

Floyd is the greatest of his era and arguably the greatest ever defensively. Will be a long time until anyone gets anywhere near the level he reached.
The gap between Mayweather and the top 10 fighters ever is huge imo.

Think about how much extra he would have had to have to done to be up there with guys like SRR, Langford, Armstrong, Greb, Charles etc etc

i don't actually see that much overlap between the NSB GGG fanbase and the NSB pac fanbase. the latter mostly just disappeared

        unfortunately you fl*mos didn't

i actually thought you were the lesser evil back when pacmania was at its height, but you seriously need to just get a life at this point

Who cares? Best fighter of his generation (although some seriously bitter folks will disagree with that). But do you know how y'all sound right now? "B-bu-but, he isn't the greatest ever, so there!" Like you guys watched Ray Robinson in his prime or something. It's come to this huh

Again I agree with your points. I just think its a matter of perspective. I get that his resume isn't there and I am not suggesting it is. There is a gap, no question.

[side note: I wonder though if those resumes get the "NSB" treatment like Floyd's-where a guy suddenly goes from "scaring Floyd" to being "shot" once he loses. That's for another discussion.]

my point about where he gets ranked still stands. His resume, when evaluated against all others by rational people outside of NSB, garners the respect it deserves.

Oh please. I don't think he's the greatest. I don't even look at boxing like that because, I haven't studied tapes of the so-called greatest. You have every right to feel that way. I find it curious that some people Think not saying he's the greatest is like a moral victory for them. Like, "so there!" If I recall correctly, you don't fall in that category. So it's probable bitter ass New England covering up his childlike anger with emoji's.

ITs a wierd one really. I think over time great fighters on the resume (no matter what stage they were at in their careers) will be remembered as bigger wins than prime contenders. For example the Pac win will be huge on Floyds resume in 50 years despite the fact pac had looked way past prime for years before they fought. The no.1 contenders and solid top 10 opp vs prime guys will be kind of pushed to the side. Thats whats happened with most great resumes.

Not that I think Floyd compares favourably either way. Its just a different way your resume gets looked at as time goes on
