Look at precedent and there is no need to guess why Tyson did not want the fight.
First off Bone Crusher Smith, Razor Rudock... two big strong guys who gave Tyson fits. Lets talk late Foreman here for the sake of argument. Late Foreman has a body that absorbs anything, is one of those big strong guys, his head is way back in his back shoulder, and one must first make it past his hands, to hit him.
So here is Tyson, with short arms, unable to really hurt George to the body, having to be oh so careful not to get caught like Moorer did. Tyson also slows way down as the fight progresses so George will get opportunities, both men know this. Stylistically its a terrible match up for Iron Mike. He needs to be able to either get to his man early, or break his man down with punches, neither of which will be easy for him to do against Foreman. All Foreman has to do is lean back and keep his arms in front of him and Tyson has to take the prospect avenue expressway to find George's bean!

Old Foreman was rocked by Holyfield and was being dominated by Moorer before he hit the jackpot with that right hand. Just saying.
Young Foreman vs young Tyson: the one who first lands the big bomb wins. Or else, another rock'em-sock'em, multiple-knockdown short war à la Foreman vs Lyle. Winner? I could not decide.Comment

Fits? Smith grappled at Tyson for 12 rounds except one punch at the last second. Scorecards were 120-106, 119-107 and 119-107 for Tyson.
Ruddock was considered a beast in 1991, but even a diminished version of Tyson beat him rather comfortably, knocking him down a total of four times if I remember correctly, and in spite of a couple of seriously hard punches taken by Iron Mike in the first fight.Last edited by Tatabanya; 09-20-2016, 01:21 PM.Comment

These 'Old George beats Tyson' convos just reinforce how fascinated boxing fans are with 'power' over everything else.
Folks fantasize about George landing some (slow) miracle uppercut that magically KO's Tyson, a guy who's shown an iron chin his entire career. George would have tried that isht one time, watched Mike Tyson pivot and hit him with famous hook-to-ribs-same-hand-uppercut that even gives-no-fuggs Tyson could still throw, and then proceeded to watch Foreman go Bonecrusher Smith hugfest-cash-check mode.
They also talk about Foreman's iron chin, but how many real punchers at HW did he really face in that comeback? Old Cooney? A 208 lb Holyfield? Michael
One final thing. Go back and look at how Foreman's comeback was promoted. Lots of big talk about wanting and promising top fights against the 'best' (Tyson), but then blaming the other side (D King) for fights not happening while taking on smaller, less daunting challenges. Sound familiar doesn't it? Well it should, because Foreman's promoter during his comeback: Bob Arum and Top Rank.
For all his big talk, Foreman didn't really want that work.Comment
