Comments Thread For: Oleksandr Usyk's Grand Arrival Marks New Trends in Boxing

By Alexey Sukachev - Krzysztof Glowacki's head shook badly under fire in round eleven, as Olexander Usyk unleashed another lightning-fast combo of unanswered punches, almost all of them landing flush to the Pole's skull. Thanks to his durability and will, Glowacki stood firm, being wobbled just slightly, and continued his fruitless attempts to win the round...

He's an incredibly complete fighter just like GGG and Lomachenko. Hopefully he will get good opponents and they won't duck him like so many keep ducking GGG.

Very nice write up. You should have included top 10 LHW Vyacheslav Shabranskyy among the list of Ukrainians even though he never competed at the Olympics he was around during the same era and a rival of Gvozdyk at Nationals like Derevyanchenko was Khytrov.

Proclaiming that Usyk won't stay at CW long is speculation on your part and your summary of his options in the division inaccurate. A unification with the Bellew/Briedis winner or Gassiev if he wins is very possible and voluntaries against Huck, Dorticos, Wlod/Durodula winner, Chakhkiev, Kucher, Kalenga, Mchunu, Cieslak, Kudryashov during the meantime would be very worth while competition.

Uyk won but it was no 119-109, **** outta here with that BS

and he is also not a new Klitchko, he fight differently. Just because he's Ukranian and tall with a good jab he won't be a new Klitschko.

If anything he rather fights like Loma with his quick weird footwork and lots of "half power punches".

He should stay in CW for a while cause in HW his height and size advantage would disappear. Yeah he has skills to fall back on but I still only ca hardly envision that he could beat any HW champion as of right now

Just watched it! Usyk dominated most of the rounds & his advantage increased in the last 3 rounds. It was supposed to be a close affair too LOL

Usyk's height, reach, speed and boxing ability was far too good for Glowacki. Usyk simply used his jab and movement to neutralize the power of the southpaw.

Holyfields record broken. CW history made. Usyk is sensational!

Interesting, the last part predicting he goes to HW. He seems like an ideal cruiser, but HW is certainly the money division for guys that size. Will be interesting to watch his career unfold. Let's hope he's handled correctly and doesn't fritter away the years like so many other top talents these days...

I think it's not a crazy speculation. Hw is the glamour division and cw for some odd reason gets no media coverage or fan hype. Might be a better career move if he's that confident in his skillls. I do think he's a bit small though. Those guys are giants.

He's good. If I were him though I'd stay at cw for a couple more money fights and then move up.

On a side not, One thing about the article that I found interesting was the part where he mentioned how weak the 2008 Olympic class was.

They only have 3 champs, Wilder, Loma and Degale. I didn't realize it was that bad. Especially compared to 2004 and 2012 which were some of the best.

Guy is no elite HW in this day and age. I assume he will move up eventually but he will get smoked at the top level in HW. Just way too much size and power up there...
