Things are different now. A lot of guys are trying to be smarter.

Do I like that? As a fan, no. But, I do not blame a guy who wants to get what he's worth. I often get clients who want me to do free work. They try to pitch it as fun, as if we'll just hang out at my studio and record some tracks. Fk no. That's my work. Pay me if you want me to work.
This ^. If you take that outlook most of the decisions made by boxers and their teams became quite easily explainable in terms of rational decision making to maximise earnings and minimise risk. Professional fighters aren't cowards or scared or shook, but they ain't ****** either - or at least they better hope their promoters and managers ain't.

I think it's pretty obvious to see now that they turned down 3 times the highest payday Golovkin has ever received. They see the hard work young Canelo has put in since he was a pro at 15. They saw him take the short end of the stick against Floyd and Cotto and make concessions to get the fights made. GGG thinks he's about to sit there and not give up anything and make a name off off Canelo? Let's see what Mayweather says about that:

When did Loeffler turn anything down? All we've heard is that there have been preliminary negotiations for a fight at an unspecified date I think. GBP haven't said anything's been turned down, merely that an offer has been made. Loeffler has acknowledged this, or at least acknokledged that there has been contact. That's all I've seen anyway, though maybe I've missed something. Could you link me up?

And yeah, sure Golovkin wants Canelo cos of his money and his name. That's how this **** works ain't it? And no, now he's let go of the strap Canelo owes nothing to Golovkin and can and should only fight him on his terms when he's ready.
