I agree. Mayweather ducked Golovkin, so why should Alvarez need to move up and fight him?

Jacobs is in the same weight division, he's the one who needs to needs to man up and fight GGG especially since he's the mandatory.

canelo got himself into all this, if he had fought lara for lara's wba belt he wouldn't be in this position. he would be a 154 lbs champion. but no, he had to fight him at 155 lbs (MW) because he wasn't interested in that belt. the cotto fight should've been at 154 as well. the fight wasn't gonna be bigger than it was because of the belt anyways

Boxingscene in the 70's "Ali doesn't even need to fight Frazier. He's the real champ and has beaten Liston, Cooper and Moore all before he was 25."

It would've been a good fight. But instead of GGG he fights two very chinny guys (one of whom was dragged up two weight classes and the other who's bordering shot/had a long layoff) then vacates the title to fight a Sir Nigel Beef Wellington Chesterfieldingston The Fuckhundreth at junior middleweight. Make all the excuses you want: He ducked Golovkin hard yet has the nerve to keep talking crap about him every chance he gets. Fuck him and fuck your pathetic thread.

That said-- After Golovkin fights Jacobs he should move up to 168.

                I agree with OP.

                Canelo has nothing to prove.

Canelo doesn't have to have Golovkin on his resume to be great because he is already well on his way to that without that fight.

That being said, he should fight Lil g.

Here's the thing though...Lil g has more of the blame for the fight not happening IMO.

If I'd never heard Golovkin and his peeps rolling out the "anyone from 3 or 4 weight classes" I might be completely understanding of their position concerning Canelo.

If I'd never heard him say he could get down to 154 for Mayweather, I might understand him refusing to do 155 for Canelo, a guy Floyd beat easily.

If I'd never heard him try to dictate as an A-side- to Ward, who was really the A-side anyway and probably hadn't seen 164 since the amateurs- to do a catchweight, I might understand him refusing to be dictated to by an A-side who demanded a catchweight.

And then there is history. The great ones always do what they must to make the fight.

Someone already posted about Floyd. DLH went up to face BHop. Cotto went down to face Pac. Maravilla and PWill made a way twice and gave us two distinctly different fights we still talk about.

Canelo is the A-side here. Golovkin will never be that when standing next to Kid Cinnammon.

Golovkin needs to go to where the greatness is.

He needs to do whatever, wherever to fight elite guys his own size.

But why would anybody not want the fight to happen. As a boxing fan, everyone should want to these fights to happen if we watch it for entertainment. We don't gain anything from a fighter showing their muscle in the contract stage and not fighting guys because he has nothing to prove. As a fan, we gain when we get the best fights. So instead of willing one fighter to make another fighter bend over in the negotiations, i'd rather see the fighters come to a decent agreement and get it on.

It seems some fans want a moral victory in the contract negotiations than seeing an actual fight. Absolutely bizarre considering you won't earn a penny from it. If anything it's going to cost you.
Where did i say i don't want the fight to happen? of course i would to love to see them fight. It would be a huge event all over the world. It's just that i don't buy into the MEDIA BULLSHT that EVERYONELSE does. Canelo is at a position where he doesn't have to listen to any critics, let alone internet forums lol. He can do whatever the fck he wants. The media wants to make it look like Canelo is running scared of GGG. They want to make it look like as if Canelo NEEDS GGG when that isn't the case at all. I just listed several other matchups that would be great for Canelo & boxing. He doesn't need Gennady AT ALL.

How come the media is not asking for GGG to move up?...they just always on their agenda/progaganda bullsht and you guys always fall for it. It takes a real one to see right through the bullsht.
