his best win was over john thompson who won the first 5 rounds and just lost to willie monroe. what did you expect? he had a nice run as "champ" but he will finish his career losing 8 in a row now

Starting with the weigh in, Canelo looked like the guy in the arena most bored with the fight. He just went thru the motions and came away with the expected stoppage. Every time Smith came forward he got the worst of the exchange, probably accounting for Canelo moving to the ropes because the biggest shots were counter punches after Smith dropped his high guard and opened himself up. Breaking down the body rather than going for a highlight reel, chinny, overhand right was the only thing that maybe wasn't diagramed by Canelo's camp from the beginning.
