  • Reasons why Canelo vs GGG should/shouldn't happen next.

We all wanna see Canelo fight GGG, I think this is the 1 thing we can all agree on. The only question at the moment is WHEN. When do you think that fight should happen? Should it happen next? should Canelo first fight someone else then fight GGG? what's your argument on that? and please no childish back and forth.

Me Perosnally, I think the dumbest thing Canelo could possibly do is to fight GGG in his first fight at 160 against the first real 160 pounder he's ever faced, I think he should move up to 160 next, fight a puncher like a Lemieux or a Curtis Stevens or Eubank Jr, then fight GGG after that, he needs to get acclimated to being punched by the bigger punchers, he's gonna have to use more movement and just change his fighting style a little bit at 160, and I think having more experience at 160 is gonna help him a lot against GGG. fighting 147 and 154 pounders at 154-155 is completely different from fighting 160 pounders at 160.

Plus Canelo wouldn't have any excuses if he lost. It would be a legit middleweight bout with nobody being at a disadvantage.

Guys it will happen in September 2017. Now lets enjoy the buildup and subsequent fights. I enjoyed last night, and enjoyed Brook-Golovkin. I think sometimes that gets missed, we are here to enjoy the sport.

I think had it happened this year it would have been too soon to maximise financially, it already feels much bigger than it did 6-9 months ago. From team Canelo's point of view, I also think it would have been too soon, he is just starting to peak now, it might have come 12-18 months too late for Golovkin, but the fight is more even now, its more interesting. One fight for Canelo to acclimate at 160, one fight for Golovkin to unify against Jacobs or Saunders (which are great fights by the way) and we get it in 12 months.

Canelo`s best win is Cotto, who is actually a jr. middleweight. it doesnt make me believe canelo is strong enough for GGG.

I think it should happen in May, not September.

September 2017 is a whole year away. I know big fights have to build a bit but i don't think this fight will get much bigger. It's not Mayweather v Pacquiao which had huge crossover appeal. GGG v Canelo is about as big now as it will be in a years time.

There's no reason they can't do a deal to fight May 2017, it's still about 8 months away.

So you think Canelo should fight GGG right away at his first fight at 160 or should he fight a real 160 pounder first? I think Canelo can fight again in January and then maybe fight GGG in May.

So you're in favor of him getting acclimated to 160 first before fighting a real 160 lbs champion or u don't wanna see the fight at all?

I'm fine with September 2017. Let GGG unify all the titles and beat Jacobs and let Canelo fight Monroe Jr and Lemueix and then we have a mega fight for all the marbles next year... I'd also be happy with May 2017 if GGG or Canelo can get that chicken Saunders in the ring in December

No reason why he can't have a tune up at 160 in between. GGG is meant to be fighting December and then early in the new year. So he might have 2 fights before then. So there's no reason Canelo couldn't have 1. Golden Boy have plenty of MW's they could match him with.

Besides, he said weight is not a problem in the post-fight press conference after the Khan fight and he will fight at 160. He also said he's ready to fight anybody in his interview last night.

Lets see Canelo against one of top 15 fighers in 160 division first.

That's what he's supposed to say, but then when he loses he turns back and says oh the weight was a problem. This is exactly what they did against Mayweather and that's what I don't wanna see/hear if he ever fought GGG.
