Espinoza was in recent articles making it clear they're not funding the MacGregor fight. Or whoever he fights for his comeback fight. And, again, this from a network that supposedly made huge amounts of money from Mayweather.

It's a myth doe. Mayweather is too greedy to share his loot.

Between January 2011 through at least July 2015, Showtime was able to pick up 10 million homes. At $11 per month (or $132 per home) you're looking at Showtime making almost $1.4m more in revenue than they were making in 2011.

Showtime isn't putting up the money for Mayweather-McGregor because 1)it's a **** fight and 2)there's literally no way for them to make back their money [McGregor wants $10m, Floyd will likely come down to $80m, and Showtime would only be getting one fight].

thought you were smarter than that

So how come their boxing ratings are so horrific?

        Keep fooling yourself.

Nice adding decoy links bro. Showtime showed nothing but the appearance of a broke boxing network and hardly produced fights after their Mayweather stint. Thousands were left with a choice of canceling their subscriptions. Even Rogers Canada dropped Showtime boxing in their Superchannel package because there was hardly any boxing shows. What's the point?

and who's to say that came from boxing? It could just as easily be attributed to Homeland, Dexter, Californication, Shameless, etc etc.......

Remember the money distribution for the networks was proportional to the distribution for the whole may/pac teams. So 1. Showtime did more than that, and; 2. In that case it was arum/pac who ripped off HBO, as each camp was responsible for the distribution of the revenue among themselves.

Good post. HBO got the lesser share of the 7.5% available or whatever. Because the fighters had so much leverage maybe the total network share was even lower.

Beats me; still, funny to see folks ignore context, though.

Roman Gonzalez, with "superstar" Golovkin as his lead-in, was only able to draw 850k for his fight, yet HBO is available in 10m more homes than Showtime.

                Gonzalez-Quadras: 850k
                Ward-Brand: 750k
                Crawford-Postol (ppv replay): 375k
                Kovalev-Chilemba (non-boxing night, tbf): 350k
Martinez-Lomachenko (direct competition with Showtime for boxing eyes): 585k
                Vargas-Salido: 835k
                Alvarez-Khan (ppv replay): 765k
                Golovkin-Wade: 1.35m
                Pacquiao-Bradley (ppv replay): 750k
                Ward-Barrera: 1.05m
                Ortiz-Thompson: 750k
                Crawford-Lundy: 985k
                Kovalev-Pascal II: 1.2m

With HBO literally being available in nearly 30% more homes than Showtime, how do you explain HBO's boxing numbers, especially after April.

Knock off the 30% audience difference, and the conversion of viewers to boxing isn't all that out of line between the two channels as is.

What's Showtimes highest rating this year, like 500k? That's 750k on Hbo, they get that for replays. Flyweights get better numbers. Even their ratings duds do better prorated than the 3x more expensive Jacobs Quillin, nevermind those Smw fights.

What decoy link? In 2011, Showtime was available in 18m homes. By July 2015 (with Floyd being one fight away from heading out the door), Showtime was available in 28m homes.

Now, all of it can't be attributed to Floyd (Homeland coming around in 2011 with Shameless, and Ray Donovan coming around in 2013 definitely helps), but to foolishly say that Floyd's move led to none of that growth makes you look like an idiot.

Rogers Canada can do whatever they want, that's their business (if the change was actually due to content, Showtime has currently put on 6 Showtime Championship Boxing cards, 2 SHO International broadcasts, and at least 8 ShoBox cards, compared to all of maybe 10 fight cards from HBO).

will gladly keep giving you more rope
