You can add Lara and Rigo. I also consider Lomachenko a pure boxer as well.

It's really splitting hairs with some fighters. Some of these guys blur the style line a bit from time to time. Rigo and Lara rely so much on counterpunching that I consider them to fall into the OP's "defensive counterpuncher" category. I don't consider Lomo to be a pure boxer. He's pretty diverse. I've seen him pressure and swarm. He has very good speed and skills. I consider Vasyl more of a boxer-puncher. I really like watching him fight.

Nope unless your name is Whitaker, Mayweather jr, or Benitez. Most judeges will favor the guy who makes the fight, not the guy who throws few punches a round. Mayweather got alot of rounds for doing literally nothing. Throwing maybe 25 punches a round. That is weak. Yet he is Floyd so, you have to beat the champ decisively.

            "Defensive counter puncher.

Highest chance of winning, gets the benefit of the doubt more often than not, takes least punishment, longest career."

This is true but the defensive counter puncher has to have a quality Jab. If not he often times falls short on points and the refs will often reward the coming forward aggressor(froch-Dirrell).

ALso, I'de say most effective would be fighters who can do abit of everything when they need to. Terrence crawford has this ability, so does manny pac and GGG. They seem to do most things well and can execute all styles.

Great points. And yeah, on second thought, you're 100% right about Lara & Rigo probably falling more into the defensive counter puncher category. Especially Rigo. He's the epitome of a defensive counter puncher.

Agree on Loma as well -- I was thinking boxer-puncher as well before I made that post, but he's just an incredibly gifted technician all around. You know how they'll call a baseball player who can do it all a five tool player? That's how I view Loma. He has the entire toolbox, man.

Agreed. He's a special fighter. Been keeping an eye on him since his amateur days.

Most efficient? Be really tall and use your jab like a telephone pole, and grab a lot. Klit style.

Lara, Rigo are defensive counter punchers.

I would consider Floyd a boxer at 130 and a defensive counter puncher later on in his career.
