I dont know about wear and tear but the human body suffers from a crazy amount of ailments. I think people are mostly shocked from not knowing that TUEs exist, as well the the click-bait sensationlism thats comes with stories like this

TUEs aren't supposed to be given out after you get caught.

They are supposed to be applied for and approved before you start taking a banned substance or using a banned method.

This is where the Us seems to be very lax.

Absolutely agree with what you've written.

Just to my point, athletes work out and abuse their bodies for a living. The drugs that Serena and Venus were approved for were used as anti-inflammatories and pain killers.

Yes, it's medical aim, like any steroid is to decrease inflammation so could be used to treat an inflammatory condition of the lungs.

The fact that the sisters used not only prednisolone but 3-4 other synthetic steroids, over a long period of time raises questions.

If they were really this ill how did they even function on a tennis court, let alone train and travel all year round? So many tues, one after the other and multiple steroids raises many questions.

As for Venus, she has spoken for herself:
“I have followed the rules established under the Tennis Anti-Doping Program in applying for, and being granted, “the****utic use exemptions”. The application for TUEs under the Tennis Anti-Doping program require a strict process for approval which I have adhered to when serious medical conditions have occurred. The exemptions posted in the hacked report are reviewed by an anonymous, independent group of doctors, and approved for legitimate medical reasons. I am one of the strongest supporters of maintaining the highest level of integrity in competitive sport and I have been highly disciplined in following the guidelines set by WADA, USADA, the ITF and collectively the Tennis Anti-Doping Program.” She said in a statement

Yea, this had nothing to do with this Russian group being salty. Nothing at all. Instead of condemning an attack that reveals athletes private medical records, you join in with the baseless attack. Good job!

Just because they've spoken out in defence of themselves means we should believe them? What's kind of logic is that?

And I only used prednisolone as an example but both sisters have taken 3-4 other steroids over a period of 4 years or so. They were given tues each time. Which means they were ill enough to be prescribed steroids on multiple occasions and if u knew anything about medicine, you would know steroids are not given out willy nilly.

This raises a question, if they were so ill, for o long, suffering from conditions which cause inflammation and restricted breathing r even liver problems, then how were they fit enough to train, play and travel continously throughout this period?

This further raises questions about the validity of the tues and if the system was abused.

All of this is further supplemented by historical evidence of American sports and doping cover ups. This is enough to cast su****ion and the leaks should lead to full investigations and maybe an overhaul on how drug testing labs are run.

So essentially, the existence of TUEs should cast doubt on anyone who has them? That you are trying to condemn athletes without having any idea of their medical history is the problem. Do you know how long the TUEs were to last for? As I mentioned, Serena's last one was for a whopping 6 days, and the medications the sisters used were anti-inflammatories and pain killers. Biles medication was for ADHD. What do you base your "so ill for so long" rhetoric on?

I guess you didn't pay attention when she said the TUEs were approved by an independent group of doctors. By the way, the TUEC also is not given the names of the applicant for the TUE.

Look I'm nothing to keep reiterating my points here. Each to his own. If youre happy with dirty sporting scene that's fine.

I'm not and if there is su****ion cast on an individual with enough evidence then there should be proper investigations as to why multiple tues were provided over an extended period of time.

Athletes don't get sick all the time and if they are, then they wouldn't be functioning at such a high physical level.
