Canelo should have dropped the belt after beating Cotto and should have said he'll likely go back to 154 even before beating Cotto. Fighting Khan at 155 and then trying to act like a tough guy towards GGG didn't do him any favors. And if he isn't gonna fight him soon, he should really stop mentioning him.

It's more than possible that Canelo actually expected GGG to drain himself to 155 to fight him, which could be why he didn't drop the MW title right away.

J-Rock/Charlo is a perfect example of the fight I want for Canelo. I'd like to see Brook have a tune-up at 154 before jumping in with Canelo, to show he's recovered.
I repeat: Canelo can't get Haymon's fighters to date.

Guys, dont count out Canelo missing weight for Smith. I'd die laughing if he misses weight against Smith.

I actually believe him that he'll stay 154....until Golovkin is gone or 40 yrs old. Chickanelo is a disgrace to Mexicans coz Mexicans don't F$# around!

a lot of fighters go up a lot in weight, but canelo is a star and gets criticized for this,,guys like Crawford would go up a lot in weight, roman gonzalez when he fought at 108 went up a lot too,,,cotto when at a140 the same,,,yeah they eventually went up to fight and I'm sure canelo will too,but I never heard them get criticized like canelo is now,but this will be the case when it's a popular fighter,he will always be hated on,he can fight ggg next, beat him and the haters will still say golovkin was never really that good,he can beat Andrade and people will say the same thing,he will never get credit, and a lot of guys at 154 would go all the way to 170 when it was time to fight, trout, angulo all weighed over 170,

This new declaration that he is campaigning at 154 for a while, is clearly different from the previous indication that he was taking one 154 fight and then moving up.

He should in good conscience vacate the Ring title, which he should have done immediately after winning it, instead of taking another fight at 155 and calling GGG out and utterly failing to back it up.

If he doesn't he should be stripped, or the thing is meaningless.

There is nothing wrong campaigning at 154, but Canelo chose to make a complete ass out of himself after beating Cotto. He has no one but himself to blame for being marked a ducker.

Canelo's statement was in order to sell some more tickets -- it's the fight week.
