Good fight! GGG will be the favorite but Jacobs has been looking good lately. It's funny how people keep saying that GGG got exposed. People were saying the same thing about Floyd when he fought a close fight against Castillo. Jacobs can definitely punch so could Lemieux, Stevens, and Rubio. Jacobs is obviously better than these guys which is why this is an interesting fight.

If it goes to purse bid, I doubt if any promoter would bid more than $2 to $3 million on this fight.
Why do people act like Jacobs is asking for the moon? He said in an interview posted on this site that he wouldn't ask for anything absurd like 10 million or anything but he feels since it is a bigger fight he should make more than the 1.5M he made vs Quillin. That's not unreasonable at all. Maybe 2 or 2.5

I'll believe it when they are both in the ring

I personally rate Jacobs ahead of Saunders. Neither one of them, nor anyone else in the middleweight division is any good. But if GGG is determined to fight somebody in the division, Jacobs is the best choice.

As a fight fan, I'm just really ready for this dude to move up. He says he wants to unify belts. But he's as clear a top guy his division as there is in the sport. Collecting one more trinket isn't gonna make or break that claim. The real reason he wants to stay at 60 is because for one, he has a sweet deal with HBO that pays him handsomely to fight subpar competition. Secondly, Canelo is the biggest payday available for him. But that fight isn't gonna happen for at least a year, maybe ever. And I just can't deal with another year from GGG like he's had this year....and the one before.....and the one before.

Its no secret that I wanna see GGG man up and fight the Ward-Kovalev winner. But if he doesn't, at least make the move to 68. 68 isn't great. But I do think its a lil better than 60. And maybe there, the top guys won't be so reluctant to fight him. As his showing this past weekend. I think naturally bigger guys are gonna be salivating at the opportunity to fight Gennady. As much as he geta hit. A bigger guy has to be thinking, if I hit him as much as Kell did, he's on his ass. And if unification is his true goal, he can unify at 68. It would be easier to unify at 75 since the Ward-Kovalev winner will have three belts. But if he doesn't make that big a jump. It would add a lil excitement to his career to try and conquer at new division at 68.

The wonderful thing about this fight is that while people who DKSAB are posting ratings and talking A-side/B-side, money demands etc. None of it matters because they can always go to purse bid and get the fight made. No more excuses. Jacobs can't price himself out. If HBO won't put up the money to make the fight and K2 doesn't want it to go to purse bid they can put up the money themselves and put on a PPV. Ya know, like Arum came out of his pocket to make the Crawford-Postol fight happen. This doesn't even have to go to purse bid and this fight can be made on HBO PPV.

Neither Hearn nor DeGale have ever said if the fight was offered to DeGale when Eubank screwed up. Seeming ad Hearn has a mouth on him you'd have thought he would have said something.
For DeGale there has to be more legacy unifying with Jack and they have supposedly been in negotiations for ever.
Plus if Golovkin wants to unify first its not helpful moving up and then back down - better he stays at 160 and let people come to him until he is done with 160 - which I personally think is looking likely to be never.

I don't think Jacobs - Lemieux would be a walkover for either fighter. Would be a great fight imo.

Now now. Leave Kigali be. This is all he has in life. Very sad.

I thought I read he wanted twice what he got for Quillen which would be $3M. But suppose he wanted $2.5M - is this a $5M fight and if so where is the money coming from?

I don't see him going to 168 now, I hope I'm wrong. He'll never go to 175 - its just too big of an ask for someone who still makes 160 comfortably at 34.5 years old.
He can unify MW, make some defenses and hope for a Canelo fight. Sure his legacy won't be what it could have been but if he holds record MW defenses and is unbeaten he will be 1st ballot HOF-er.
AND fairly rich - especially if he does a rematch with Canelo.
