His eye was already gone, did u see Ingle in the corner talking to brook? It kept getting worse and he knew it was over. I wasn't seeing what I "wanted" to see, I personally had the fight tied 2-2, but 3-1 brook was understandable when accounting for swing rounds, there were 2 very close rounds. When golovkin jumped on him like that in the 5th round Brook's eye was pretty much done and you could see him repeatedly touching it with his glove. The round right before that golovkin jumped on brook the same way and brook was able to tag him with counter shots as golovkin was coming in, but the eye was bothering him to the point he couldn't do it anymore in the following round. That's basically when the fight was over.
I mean, im not saying golovkin got "lucky" or anything like that because the eye injury happened from a punch like...duh he produced the injury with his own fist so he caused the stoppage clearly. But it could have been a different fight had brook not been so careless on those ropes in the first couple of rounds and tried to force the fight more towards the middle of the ring like he started doing in the rounds he was having success in. Imo if brook could have kept that up (it seemed he was in good shape) and not get caught with anything TOO cleanly (which was also possible because Golovkin was swinging wildly at times missing the target and eating shots) it would have been a REALLY close fight for however long it lasted (which it was.)
