In the end, Golovkin won and it was inevitable. But he got no skills. He can cut off the ring and that's the only thing he got. His punches are too wild and he got no defense and no ability to adjust. Mayweather should come back for an easy win number 50 against Golovkin.

I know that people are now making excuses about Golovkin being sick or weight-drained or intimidated by the crowd or just growing old over night, but we saw what we saw. A limited boxer beating a good boxer only due to his massive power advantage.

This is definitely Golovkin's best win, but also the definitive proof that the hype has gone too far. Froch would have murdered him and against Ward, he would look like an absolute joke, hitting air all night.
my opinion of GGG has gotten worse since the brook fight.

it looks like all the critics of GGG might be right. he might be a little grossly overrated.

i still like him, i will still root for him but his upside and ceiling dropped IMO according to last night.

Golovkin IS skilled. But as Floyd has said, there's levels to this.

I've said all along, Golovkin is only effective when he can trap you and set up. Which you saw on full display in Round 3 of this fight - when Brook kept it in the center of the ring and was active, mixing it up with variety, G had no answer but to sit and take punches. That doesn't win you rounds. No fighter can keep that up for 3 minutes straight, but the key is to at least keep him in the middle of the ring and pivot. Don't go backward.

When they stop throwing, G walks you down and if you try to one side, he will cut you off. The answer there is High School 101: feint which side you're moving to and nail a jab or a check to throw him off, then follow up with a combo. G can't handle mix ups. He can handle consistently thrown shots.

G does not move his head. But that doesn't mean it should always be the target. Mix it up. Attack the head a bit, the body a lot, pivot to get away, feint where appropriate. Don't move a lot because he'll just chase you down and you're done if he lands square.

A highly active, greatly versatile boxer puncher stops G inside 6 rounds. Someone who fights like Hearns did against Roberto Duran.

Compare GGG against Lemieux to last night and you had a GGG who respected the power in front of him, he stuck to a game plan, last night he felt Brook's shots and had zero regard for them, he loaded up on everything from round one and walked through everything Kell hit him with. The punches didn't deter him one iota, whereas Brook's corner were flapping because every shot had zero effect on GGG.

You're so biased you can't see what was in front of you. It was competitive for the latter 90 seconds of the second round, that's it.

GGG was swingin' for the rafters last night, went wadin' in hopin' for an early night and very nearly ended it in the 1st. He normally looks much better cutting off the ring and KEY: much better shot selection and timing. It's obvious to anyone who's watched most or all of his fights that he wasn't at his best last night. Put it down to collection of feeling uncomfortable in a foreign land, the weight of a 20,000 packed arena screaming at you, being ill, maybe, being spooked and most definitely, we must take into account Brook's performance. He looked real good when he was sharpshooting, perhaps showed that GGG's there to be hit, but not everybody punches as straight and accurate as Kell Brook. Great fight, looking forward to seein' what the future holds for both of theseuns.

I am a GGG fan and I see no reason to make excuses for him. Brook is a good fighter and he came to Brook's back yard and stopped him in 5 rounds. According to the punch counters he landed about 130 punches to Brook's 80 punches and he landed more punches than Brook in every round. Froch isn't much older than GGG and he was offered good money to "murder" GGG at his fighting weight of 168 and he said no thanks. You have all these sure thing GGG beaters while he KOs 23 guys in a row and defends his titles with KO wins 17 times in a row. You act like GGG having a "massive power advantage" over his opponents is cheating. You don't know how Mayweather, Froch or Ward would do against GGG until they fight. You are just a know it all jackass and a hater of GGG, Kovalev, Loma and Canelo. Keep on hating and watch all of them keep on winning, Boxingdummy. Your countryman Smith is the next English champion to get knocked out, courtesy of Canelo who you also say can't fight a lick.
