I had that same exact injury and it ended my boxing/mma career. It's serious and now I have permanent eye damage. The muscles and nerves get trapped inside the fracture and the longer you wait to get surgery the more damage is permanent. I now have double vision in certain angles and can't feel that side of my face. They have to put in a plate to cover the fracture so the eyeball doesn't drop down and if Brook gets hit there again it'll really damage that eyeball next time. Sucks for him, his career is in jeopardy. I think Matthysse had that same injury against Postol and he's having trouble with that eye now and considering retirement.

Brook was behaving like some one who wanted out even before the final onslaught. The boy is a ****ing coward and a disgrace.
Say what you want about khan but he would never ever give up because of a little bump under his eye....
Brook only had to move up 2 weights.
Khan started at lightweight......

I got it from sparring, we were going hard and not wearing headgear that day. It takes a certain angle for the eyeball to get hit flush and break the socket. It's a lucky shot.

Man it's funny what all these keyboard warriors are saying but unless you get your socket broken too, you won't understand. As soon as my eye socket got broken I knew it was bad and had to take a knee. And when you try to open your eye it looks like you're looking out of shattered glass.

We all expected Golovkin to destroy Brook, and in essence, he did. Brook put up a good fight for as long as he could and showed some real heart and skill. It's very unfortunate that a WW stepped up to fight a MW powerhouse like Golovkin and suffered a potentially career-altering injury. This won't inspire MWs to face GGG; but instead further solidifies their decision to avoid him like the plague.
