Comments Thread For: Brook should emulate Duran, not Leonard to upset Golovkin

Never mind the obvious and often over-hyped size difference between the two; Gennady Golovkin will still be a solid favorite against Kell Brook, given the Kazakh's superior knockout percentage and level of opposition. Even if Brook were a natural middleweight, he would still be facing an opponent with the punching power of a light heavyweight who has effortlessly dismantled a spectrum of opponents with a diaspora of styles.

Bumlovin isnt the best infighter, his power punches come from mid range, he needs his space.

Has Brook ever shown good infighting ability though? He got mullered by Carson jones in the first fight there and second fight he learned his weakness and clinched instead. Same with Porter.

              Why emulate anybody?

Surely your best chance is fighting in the way you're most comfortable with and that is natural to you. If it's not good enough then so be it. It's a bit foolish to go in a big fight trying things you've never done before because it worked for a totally different fighter against a totally different opponent in the past.

Remember that time Berto tried to do the shoulder roll against Guerrero and got bounced off the canvas about 3 times in the first round or something.

I think this is a totally horrible strategy! 2 punch combo, then out! Stiff jab, double jab, body shot, then out! Rinse and repeat! If Brook wants to be an attacker, then it should not happen until at least round 10! Stick and move for 1-9, then maybe go for the kill!

                  Dumbest Advice Ever!

Duran was a Pitbull and a skillful boxer, Brook is an excellent boxer but he is not even close in a dream to a young Duran to fight his style.

I am leaning towards Brook for the win, only if he brings the best condition for 12 rounds. This should be a Hopkins style vs Trinidad. Grab, punch, jab, get away. If Brook engages toe to toe with Glolovkin, he has no chance.

Glolovkin gets hit easy, Brook should follow his heart, his confidence on his style and I hope he has watched some Hopkins' videos and he could be the winner tonight.

It is imperative to also keep a close eye in the hands wrapping on Golovkin, I have always being su****ious of them...

The author has not seen GGG vs Ouma

Quote, "Golovkin might have superior boxing skills and versatility but he has never been dragged into prolonged, frenetic trench warfare."
Well, you should watch GGG vs Kassim Ouma where both punished each other from Round 1 to the late rounds, non-stop. That's what is called warfare.
