Brook would have been tricky because back then he was a welter and froch is not a fast super middle. Add in that it was sparring and froch would have been pulling his shots.

At 160 brook will lose all his speed and be a sitting duck.

None of this changes the fact that froch fought far better opposition than golovkin and deserves more respect

Froch got a nosejob and thinks he is clever now. Deep inside he knows that GGG retired him. "Swerve him like the plague" Yeah you sure did Carl Frock.

Golovkin fans salty because old Froch decided to retire than give the hype job a pay day. You can hype him up as much as you want but when all said and done Lil G will never come close to the resume Froch has.

Whether he retired to avoid GGG is more speculation than anything IMO, but really, he made a huge pile of cashish in the Groves II fight... so why not retire? After all those wars? I know I would. Besides, he'd have had to wait 2-3 years. GGG has said often how he is in MW to get all the belts, then move up. Anyway, I don't blame Froch for retiring.
I always liked Froch as a fighter. It's like Carmen Basilio, I don't really care if he was smart or not, I like the way he fought. He did everything he should do, I was surprised to find out he was in negotiations to fight G, didn't think he should take another fight as he already was retired, really not the guy to come out of retirement against. My attitude toward Golovkin is he made those guys seem like bums, he's been fighting good fighters for a long time. I'm not really here to argue, just to put in my two cents and move on. I get ****** in sometimes, but I am not here for that. I just like boxing, have since the early fifties; my dad got us gloves so we kids wouldn't kill each other with small heavy weapons of destruction and also got a tv so we could watch Friday night fights.

I also liked Froch (for his straightforward attitude in the ring and outside).

Back in 2014, GGG was after some big money fights -- so he also called out (and negotiated with) both Chavez Jr and Froch... He missed both of them.

Sounds like you and I 'chewed practically the same dirt'. Dad and I used to watch Pabst Blue Ribbon fights on TV starting in the early 60s. What got me though, he had boxing equipment, but Dad wouldn't teach me. Instead he gave it all to the kid across the street, who never really did much with it anyway. I think Mom got into Dad's head... she didn't want me getting beat up. Ha

So it ended up I had a friend as a teen who boxed, and he got me in with his trainer for a couple years.

As for Froch, IMO if negotiations with GGG stalled, it would have been more Froch being tired of boxing than just concern over fighting GGG. I mean, Froch was a fairly big SMW, and GGG is a small MW. So Froch could have used his size just to lean on and wear down GGG etc, make the fight more even. But if you've ever left a job you were sick of by the time you left it, I'm sure you could understand Froch's disinterest. It would've been a huge effort for him just to get up for the fight. And besides, his wife may have nixed the plan. And who could possibly argue with that babe? Just my measly opinion that's all.

"Chewed the same dirt", that's good, never heard it before... I could never bring myself to hit anybody in the face without the gloves on, my brother broke my jaw... getting punched can hurt! never even met a trainer until I was in my thirties, a guy at a gym where Jesse Ferguson was training in the '80s.
Regarding Froch. That's a fair assessment, right down to his wife. What possible good could come from arguing with that?
In forae like this it's easy to give boxing primacy and forget there's a lot more going on with everyone's lives, can't blame guys for having a laser focus... most of my friends barely know boxing still exists... I just like to keep up, really...
                  Cheers...

That's just it isn't it? Fans forget the fighters have actual lives outside the sport. Gotta respect that. When I boxed, I wasn't the best by any means, but good defense kept me from ever getting hit solid. Even to the body... I must've been blessed with some kinda radar I guess. Should've stuck with it, but a teen doesn't always have priorities straight. Ha
