He's had 2 careers - 2012 and before and he got massive respect - 2013 and after where he has fallen away due to inactivity, promotional issues and low risk opponents [considering his ability].

I'm British and I think the same thing would have happened there given the same circumstances but offset by the fact that we are in a golden era for boxing in the UK which is not the case in the USA.
Lets say he would be Norwegian - well of course he would be a huge star - who else have they got to get behind [no intended offence to Norwegians, could have used Hungarian or Kazahkstani (ohh!)]

He does get the credit. He has shut out wins over top competitors and soon to have one over Krusher giving him the pound for pound no.1 spot.

                  1. You've never been in an entertaining fight your entire career

                  2. You've never fought an A-level fighter or anyone near the top of the sport with speed and power, or even just speed

                  3. You hold, measure with your jab, and duck below the waist to dodge punches, all of which are illegal according to official boxing rules

                  4. You ducked Lucian Bute and never fought Andre Dirrell when he was good either, preferring to only fight slow European fighters who were tailor made for your style

                  5. You always make demands of your opponents, such as them fighting in Oakland, but never travel or do those things yourself, and you're generally known as a diva in negotiations, exemplified by you suing the promoter who promoted you to stardom multiple times in an effort to violate a legitimate contract. Even to this day that diva attitude showed up. For example, even though Kovalev-Ward was agreed to for Vegas six months ago, you still tried to change terms at the last minute to have the fight in California, according to reports

Now you know. I don't know why it was necessary for me to explain, since these criticisms are obvious to anyone who isn't biased.

Ward is tops in my book. The way he expresses himself shows him to be very intelligent and with an educated mind. One of the best in the last half decade. Easily one of the 3 best 168 pounders ever.
