At the time I thought GGG made the right move thinking he was gonna fight Cotto or Canelo in a huge money fight but looking back now it's easy to see it was a mistake. He should have just fought Ward but honestly it wouldn't be happening until now anyway because of the tuneups for Ward...I think there's a chance they fight in the future anyway, neither guy is retiring soon and both will get bigger with some good wins starting with Ward in November... GGG needs a Canelo win to build his name up as well.

''My last two opponents outweighed me by about 8-10lbs on fight night. Edwin Rodriguez was over 190.. like 192, 193. Paul Smith was 192, 193''
So how much did Ward's weigh for those two fights if Rodriguez who he fought in November 2013 and Smith weighed 192-193 and he says they outweighed him by 8-10lb?
Paul Smith tried to negotiate a catchweight of 170 but Ward and his team wouldn't have any of it.
Andre Ward
''I'm disappointed with Paul," he told Sky Sports News HQ. "I heard last night that as of yesterday morning he was eight pounds over. You've got to realize in negotiations, my team said 172 and he fought to have it at 170. And he comes in four pounds overweight. It's very unprofessional.''
Andre Ward
''Problem is Floyd doesn't get tired and we've seen Canelo fade in fights before.. Having to take off that extra two pounds is.. people think it's just two pounds, but when you already struggling to make 154, that extra two pounds is a lot. He [Canelo] is going to put on a lot of weight but he's not going to be able to put on the right kind of weight in just 24 hours. So he's gonna feel the fact that he's, you know, stripped his body, cutting his muscles to get to 152.''
Ward is now saying it's not easy for him to make 175 despite him only having moved up to that weight just six months ago.
Ward weighed 186 for Barrera. Kovalev has only weighed over 186 in the ring a few times and that was Ward's first fight at full light-heavyweight.
Kovalev 181 - Sillakh 185
Kovalev 183 - Agnew 187
Kovalev 185 - Caparello 185
Kovalev 188 - Hopkins 182
Kovalev 189 - Pascal 185
Kovalev 183.5 - Mohammedi 180.5
Kovalev 186 - Pascal 185

2007 Andre Ward interview
'GM: How long do feel you will fight at this weight?
AW: I’m not having any trouble with it. I have to be conscious of what I am eating. I mean I always have been. The last week we have to watch carefully. Nothing too strenuous. I feel I won’t be here too long. I walk around 180. I can get to 185 if I stopped training but I rarely do. I’m walking around 180; to some people they say ‘Oh you should fight at 160.’ But I’m not going to kill myself to make 160. If you know how to fight, if you know how to box, a guy can be bigger than you and it’s not a problem. I’ve been doing this long enough to where I know how to offset that.
'GM: If you had a choice between a long title run at one weight class or being a multi-division champion who has a couple fights, picks up a belt and moves on to the next weight class, what would you choose?
AW: That’s hard to say. Time will tell but if I had to say I’d say move up in weight. I kind of like that scenario. I kind of like winning a few times and then moving up and meeting a new challenge. I think it’s healthy for the body as you get older and I think it helps. I look at what Bernard did it’s unbelievable but how much damage did he do trying to make that weight year after year after year? Then he goes up to 175 and looks like Superman physically and even performance wise because his body was craving ‘Just feed me. Just let me fill out. Let me grow.’ And he finally did and I think it showed. I don’t want to stay at one weight class forever when I know deep down I should move up.
So how much did Ward weigh when he fought Edwin Rodriguez in late 2013 when he was still at 168?Comment

MMA has spoiled me with better cards. I want boxing to get more popular than what it is now. That's what boxing has to do. Can't blame me.Comment

It won't if even "not casual" fans like you won't buy fights like these...
Boxing fans often complain abut the lack of quality matchups compared to MMA but when they finally get one they still complaining and contemplating if they buy it or not?
What's the angle?
How can it be better than two top 5 P4P (according to most) fighter fights each other?
These are the type of fights boxing needs! And they are so rare... but we still have people like you who aren't satisfied with it.
No offense but I just don't get it...Last edited by HEND; 09-06-2016, 05:36 PM.Comment
