If Ortiz would rather give up his strap than face Ustinov without testing then ok. It's his health on the line, his choice. But I don't really get how/why his plan was to split from a promoter that would've fought to get the bout on his terms, then let his opponent win the purse bid, then play hardball in negotiations without having any leverage.

The way he ends the article calling out Joshua and Wilder sounds delusional. Yeah, further inactivity and losing your belt is really gonna force them to face you dude.

This. Ortiz and his handlers don't exactly come across as sounding trustworthy. Sounds more like a made up excuse for not going through with the fight.

You can't "sign" a contract AND add an addendum to it, no matter what it is.

That's what happens when you have neophyte promoters.

Lmao Same here, man. I've been thinking about this lately. The modern version of the sport sucks ass. Nobody wants to fight each other. When a fight is "mandated," someone drops their belt and moves up. People shamelessly duck each other. You have to wait forever to see an anticipated match-up. It's really becoming too much to bear.

I love watching Ortiz fight. His career can be frustrating to follow though. Lots of stops and starts.

Yup hard to buy anything from his handlers at this point. And their story just don't add up to me. Why would they be opposed to drug testing when Ortiz is the proven cheater who got busted roiding. And this is now the 2nd or 3rd time his camp has pulled out of this fight. This is just the latest bs excuse. Let's call it what it is his team Dade Promotions are completely over their head and ruining this guy's career.

Sir you misinform. Ustinov was the one who pull out of the mandatory when was first announce by WBA, they said they need more time to prepare so Ortiz fought Thompson after his opponent bail.

The only reason is took so long is because they couldn't get an agreement and it went to purse bit.

And sir is the Russians who have been involve in a massive steroid scandal and now their pro boxer are pooping up, we don't even know if Ustinov have ever been tested by VADA before, he probably been cheating for all we know.

WBA just caught Lucas Browne with VADA so I guess they enforcing the testing in their Title fights and eliminators.

If Ustinov don't want to used VADA then the WBA might just strip him of the chance to fight for the belt.
