Now I know why you think brook is something special and porter is some type of great achievement. Welterweight is weat right now with tins of untested protected fighters who all have yet to make a name for themselves. Welterweights from mid to late 2000s all destroy welterweights right now including wack brook. Floyd, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, Manny, P-will run through guys right now.
My favorite fighters include Pep, Leonard, Whitaker, Cotto, Floyd, Brook, Frampton, Duran, Toney.....

I missed almost all their careers.... You are acting like I'm not the one who watched the fights after the fact without your biases that were in place.

Manny and Floyd ...Yes... Mosley four years earlier...Maybe.... The others is just no. I'm 22. Calling me a youngin is a compliment.

This might sound ridiculous but brook vs GGG might actually be more competitive than canelo vs ggg. If kell is comfortable at the weight stylistically he can give GGG more problems before he probably gets knocked out. Canelo is too flat footed to evade GGG and would just get walked down and beaten thats why hes scared shitless.
It's a fair analysis especially since Kell's resting weight is way above 147. With that being said Canelo is still much bigger. I'd not be surprised that Kell would procrastinate with being at 176 knowing full well that he can get his body down in no time to make 160. I think the real problem for him is making 147 but that could be the same case for many others at 147.
With Canelo, I'm sure he is walking around in the 180's when he has 30 days to go. It'll be interesting to see how much Kell rehydrates but Canelo is known to bulk back up to 176 after making 154 the previous day.
Canelo is very flat footed and uses a counter punching approach much of the time. He's really a wide, big 154lber so his cute slip moves may not work with guys who are naturally smaller and more acclimated to readjust and use his mobility against him.
For a while I thought Canelo's power was vastly overrated and very average at that. However I think he's really grown into his body and has learned a lot since pre-Mosley. He just seems to have really good snap and finishing power for anyone at or around 154. I'm not super familiar with Kell and all his fights but from what I know he can get that job done with a straight up and down conventional boxing style. If he comes into fight Canelo with a strategy to hit the bigger fighter with the kitchen sink then I think it could get very interesting.
Overall I think Kell may be a bit chinny for Canelo at 154. Canelo is a solid 160lber and really has no business at 154. Canelo also has become a great finisher but has his vulnerabilities with mobility. The biggest edge Kell could have against Canelo at 154 is endurance and volume punching. Canelo throws his perfectly practiced assorted combos and stays to that script. Mid fight after throwing combos like he's sprinting he tends to really tire himself.

Great, great post. Brook would be at huge danger with Canelo's counters if they fought.

        • I mean Khan was outboxing canelo but his glass jaw eventually led to the KO.Plus khan lacked any real power to really hurt canelo . I think brook is better than khan and could keep up the pace for 12 rounds and actually hurt him. If old past it cotto can go 12 with ginger brook could probably beat him to be honest. Id favor brook

          • Brook hasn't done nearly enough to be given that kind of respect. Alvarez may be a b*tch, but he's proven himself a lot more than Brook has. He has fast hands, good defense, sharp counters, he's a damn good fighter.

Honestly, I find it hard to give Brook that much credit based on his competition. However, I don't think the comparison is unreasonable. A fight between them at 154 would honestly be a 50-50 for me, leaning towards Canelo to get a decision regardless of what happens.

In terms of comparing how they match up against GGG I disagree. I think Canelo is more competitive due to his size advantage. Kell may be a huge welter, but Canelo is a huge super welter. If they are, hypothetically speaking, similar skill wise/on a p4p level, we also have to take into account their physicality in a head to head match up.

And Canelo's is a one dimensional Lara. And atleast Brook clearly beat Porter while Canelo maybe lost.

                Oh and Porter > Lara

                  • I've seen no evidence to suggest he's anywhere near as good.

What's this about him beating Margarito? What's this based on?
