Why criticism of Golovkin isn't racist.

I don't understand your argument. Are you saying Kazak fighters haven't moved up before and that it isn't racist to point this out to Golovkin fans? But it would be racist if hypothetically no black fighters moved and a black fighter was criticized for it?
I don't understand why people want Golovkin to move up when he is a natural middleweight. By your standards Golovkin would be smart and very much respected if he started his professional career early on, draining down to 147 & then fighting at 154 for as long as he could. He didn't take the Canelo route though and remained as a very decorated amateur wanting to turn pro later on. When he turned pro, he fought at his most comfortable weight and never has or ever will have trouble making it because THAT IS HIS NATURAL WEIGHT DIVISION.
I want to see Golovkin campaign at 168 and 175. But when Canelo and friends at 160 are absolutely shamelessly ducking him left and right, hoping to wait his career out and pick up the pieces after, that is what pisses me off more than anything. Golovkin should have every opportunity to prove he is the best at 160 but no one is giving him that chance. If Golovkin deserves anything, it's the career defining fights much like what Andre Ward was given at his time at 168.
One thing we should all agree on is that Canelo Alvarez is the biggest lie in boxing. I ****ing guarantee you he is 185+ a day after fight night. I'm rambling but how could Canelo's team be so ****** and careless. He is setting himself up for an embarrassing loss to someone way undersized with how much weight he is draining. It is severely unhealthy to be going from 154 to 176 fight after fight after fight. When James Toney came in against Jones
180+ after making 168, it was almost unheard of. He is destroying his body and longevity in the sportComment

I doubt I could be a fan of a fighter who refuses good fights. It's not hard to like both at all, I'm a big fan of both, lots of other people are too. If you didn't engage with Golovkin's extremest fangirls everyday maybe you'd feel differently.
Agree that actual boxing topics don't get enough attention though, it's because 95% of people on here are fans of boxers rather than boxing.Comment

Ring did an article saying golovkin critics were racists for saying he should move up, this is a reply to that.Comment

If Golovkin was black he'd be getting exactly the same criticism. Always talking about moving up and that he'll fight anybody and then chooses to fight weak opposition. You all know he would.Comment

I know the Smith fight wasn't on the table and won't be for some time.
Golovkin had to fight a mandatory. Even if he moved up for a couple of fights, it wouldn't be permanent, he'd move down again.
I don't mind those fights fwiw. The DeGale fight in particular will be a good one.Comment

Well Mayweather got all the hate in the world for fighting someone 2 weight classes under him. He still gets flack for that and it was 7 years ago and he is retired, so it is perfectly acceptable to throw stones at GGG for doing the same.Comment

If GGG came in on fight night at 158-162 lbs on fight night then you could call him small and say he doesn't have the body for 168+ and arguments for going up would be reaching at best. But this dude is like 170-178 on fight night. His walk around weight is 180ish. Sorry but like Canelo ass he is cutting 20+ pounds to make a smaller weight class to be stronger. Thats why I feel the argument is valid. It just doesn't need all the finger pointing and name calling and bullcrap that most tack on to it. Whether we like it or not these guys are gonna do whats best for their career. Not what we feel they should do.Comment
