Both of haglers previous defences were 12 round fights ( hearns and mugabi )...isn't 10ounce gloves used in all middlweight fights ? ....and the ring was 20ft when hagler knocked out Thomas hearns in 3 rounds ...Leonard had bigger obstacles to get over than what hagler did in that fight and Leonard won fair and square

Very True. Here is the article showing the scheduled 12 round fight with Hagler and Mugabi and even Hearns vs Schuler was also 12 rounds: In the NABF middleweight fight, Thomas Hearns will earn $1 million, while James Shuler will take in $250,000. . . . The Hagler-Mugabi fight will be scheduled for 12 rounds under the rules of the World Boxing Council. The Hearns-Shuler fight will be 12 rounds. What is your point? That Hagler was better? Then shouldn't he have been criticized more?

        Once again, logic escapes you.

I think your severely butt hurt by Floyd and seem to bring him into everything .

This fight is nothing like Leonard Hagler , neither fighters today have the atg status proven like Leonad Hagler had , what we have here is a WC WW that has beaten one top shelf fighter , and a MW GGG who has all the hype in the world as being the best MW ever which is totally unfounded based on his resume which is weak , neither Brook nor GGG has fought nobody close to the comp Leonard Hagler had already beaten , they also had 2 ATGs as common opponents that they both beat while Brook and GGG have beaten good comp its far from great .

Your perspective of boxing is quite distorted , to many BS innuendos that is driven by your fanboy love hate system .

There also wasn't any one day weigh ins back then, therefore, if you moved up and fought a middleweight, you knew without a shadow of doubt that he would be 160lbs or less on fight night.

Today, you go in there thinking you fighting a 160 guy, but then the next day when you fight the guy rehydrates by 10-20 pounds.

People complaining that GGG does not move up should remember the fate of Paul Williams. Paul said he would fight anyone between 147 and 160. I doubt both Mayweather and Paquiao would have avoided him had he stayed at 147. Paul moving up and down gave other 147-ers an excuse to duck him.

Sugar Ray Leonard made his debut as a welterweight, and he grew into a middleweight. His opponents at welterweight prepared him for Hagler. Brook might be a big welterweight, but his resume is very weak! I think if he were to beat GGG, it would be a bigger upset than Leonard beating Hagler!

Difference is Leonard had already fought and beat all time greats before stepping up.
