Danny Garcia: what went wrong?

What went wrong was Garcia used to be a good champion who defended his title a reasonable amount of times against good challengers. Then after he beat Matthysse he turned into a cherry picker and pretty much stopped defended his 140 pound titles. His best win was a catchweight fight at 143 over Peterson and many thought he lost that fight. He was basically gifted the vacant WBC welterweight title by fighting washed up Guerrero for it. The same Guerrero who so soundly thrashed by Thurman shortly before he fought Garcia. Guerrero was about a number 20 guy and had no business fighting for a vacant world title. He beat Guerrero a long time ago and has just sat on the title since then and turned down 4 million to fight Pacquiao. It looks like his next fight will be against washed up bummy Berto instead of someone like Spence. Now do you understand why he no longer gets much love? He doesn't deserve much love.

yeah my thoughts too. Danny was one of my favourite fighters for a few years and i picked him against matthyse. But how can i defend a fighter who doesnt seem interested in fighting anyone worth fighting?

Danny has always had haters(because of his dad) but he had such a good resume it was easy to check them. I'd say people started to turn on Danny after the Herrera fight because they believe he got home cooking, then completely after the Salka fiasco because that was an embarrassment too the sport.

Since then he hasn't fought up too his potential, yeah he beat Peterson ( I thought he won but he was getting his ass kick towards the end) but other then that he fought a washed up Mallinaggi and Guerrero and isn't looking at anyone else of note.

Now most of the names at Welter are sowed up...May retired, Thurman has too fight his mando, Spence just fought, Vargas has Pac and Brook is commiting suicide. Only Bradley or Porter are available, who are both coming off losses and the IBO champ is a bum so he's screwed.

You know Angel was trolling and you all took the bait...hes resume speaks for itself. Remember when Danny and Angel made a video of them eating cherries? then right after that they moved up in weight! I was rolling on the floor reading all the hateful comments from these ****boys on NSB!

He was never that great. He was simply overrated. Got the most he could out of his limited skills.

The harrera fight had people questioning dg, the fight with that lightweight and people laughing and since then his father has been a pr nightmare.

Derailing the Matthysse bandwagon had a lot to do with it.

He lost to Herrera and got a robbery (big strike against any fighter), fought one of the worst mismatches in recent memory against Rod Salka, and damn near lost to Peterson (who unquestionably was the better man that night despite the loss). So he hasn't exactly looked good against anyone worth a damn since Matthysse.

Add in his reluctance to fight the best since beating Lucas and the absolutely ******ed **** he and his father have said need to happen for him to fight the best again, and it all adds up to a hated fighter. If Garcia gets his head out of his ass and gets a nice win over a good fighter, some of that hate will go away.
