It mean Golovkin is more skilled, better schooled, polished but I think Golovkin is also more predictable and mechanic at the same time.
Kovalev also isn't a great improviser himself (imo...) but I think he can make something unexpected by a higher chance than Golovkin.

Also if you compare the two men's resume Kovalev's is easily stronger. When Kovalev faces the level of competition Golovkin usually faces he usually looks just as confident. Only difference that he could prove himself and looked confident against higher level opponents too.

Really the only things Golovkin has over Kovalev is hype and that he is more polished based on the "eye test" but that's really all...

I have no problems with it if someone thinks Golovkin is the better fighter based on eye test, that's on you but Kovalev is clearly the more accomplished out of the two hence he should be ahead of Golovkin on every P4P lists. Of course only if we assume that P4P lists are still based on resumes and not on hype and eye tests.

Golovkin has more in his arsenal. Kovalev has done more with less.

GGG is the more all rounded boxer imo.Its baffling how so many rate Kovalev above Golovkin,i just don't see it at all. When has light heavyweight had better fighters than middleweight in recent years.

Kovalevs best win was against a 50 year old B-Hop and he still couldn't put him away.Kovalev is this big bad beast who "krushes" everyone yet he doesn't knockout a well past his prime B-Hop.

idk man I think mw was extremely weak in the last couple of years and LHW was clearly better...
look at the two divisions now, compare the names

also now Ward is in lhw to, idk what are your views on him but I think he is one of the bests out there, if not the best.

and people should rate him higher P4P becaue he simply has the better resume out of the two
of course you can have the opinion that Golovkin is the better but on a P4P list which I think should rather based on resumes Kovalev should be definitely higher

That's what I'm saying, when Kovalev fights the level of competition Golovkin has, he looks just as good. Cutting off the ring, punch variety, power, controlling distance, excellent timing, he does it all. On top of that he has also shown his skills against better competition.

I'd like to see Golovkin look as skilled as Kovalev did against Hopkins. Throw 50 years old out there all you want, that's still an ATG fighter operating at a world class level, and Golovkin's never fought anyone that good.

Some people just lump fighters together and can't differentiate skill.

We don't really know as Golovkin's competition has been pretty poor and we don't have a good gauge of where his ceiling is at.
Kovalev is sharper and has a slightly higher ring IQ. He's shown more intelligent defensive practices. We've also seen him maul better competition so I'd have to give it to Kovalev right now.

                      They're both good fighters.
