Do Mexicans have a history of being overly critical of their athletes? My understanding of the Mexican fan base in general was that they are very supportive of their athletes who show courage and honor, regardless of whether they win or lose.

Of course, my understanding of Mexican athletes was that they are brave hearted warriors, not belt dropping chickens. Maybe that has something to do with it...

Thats some straight BS from Canelo. Its funny how he threw the Mexican Olypic team out there like hes referring to their treatment and not his. But I bet he failed to realize the Mexican government was the one that didnt support their Olympians not the fans or people. There was a sad article about Mexicos only boxing medalist that had to beg for money to eat and live while in Rio for the Olympics. His country sent him over there with no support.

It might have been a response to this. Mexican fans want the GGG fight now rather than later.
