Would boxing be safer if they used smaller, finger-less UFC sized gloves? 4 oz

Even though UFC/MMA seems like the more brutal and dangerous sport, it's the boxers who end up with a lifetime of brain damage, impaired speech, and overall suffering after retirement. Boxing gloves have too much padding, therefore leading to more brain rattling without actually putting your opponent down. A hard, flush punch that might have knocked someone down or out with smaller UFC gloves (4 oz) won't have the same effect with bigger boxing gloves (8+ oz). Instead, you're just rattling their brain without hurting them over the course of 12 rounds. This is why more boxers die in the ring compared to UFC. Retired boxers live a life of major complications due to this very reason.

It's the same reason more and more studies are being conducted on the alleged safety that headgear provides. Sure, they can stop from cuts and bruises but it won't stop your brain from rattling by getting hit.

Wasn't he a boxer before he got into MMA?

Plus he's an uneducated street thug who grew up on Stockton. He probably has at least 30 or more street fights under his belt. Probably got stomped out while unconscious in a few at least.

Absolutely, Fights would end a lot sooner as overmatched fighters wouldn't have to endure unecessary punishment.

That's true. Plus it'd lead to a lot more upsets too which could be a good thing for the sport.

Fights would be more boring I think. Dudes would be so scared of getting dropped that they wouldn't trade. They'd try to pot shot.

              It wouldn't be Boxing.

              Like American Football and Rugby.

The hits are bigger in AF because they have the pads. The pads give them more confidence.

They don't have pads in rugby so the hits aren't as big.

If boxers used MMA gloves we'd have more brain damage, more broken jaws, ribs, ears and more deaths in the sport.

How is that possible if UFC has less injuries in those categories when they are allowed to kick, knee, elbow and punch?

                    You aren't being objective.

Brain damage comes from sustained beatings that don't knock you out. Your brain is rattling inside of your head and that's what happens in boxing. In UFC, if you get hit with a good shot you're going down. Getting knocked out cold isn't as bad as a sustained beating, which can cause blood clots and brain bleeding.
