Comments Thread For: Orlando Salido vs. Takashi Miura Showdown in The Works

It looks as though Orlando Salido (43-13-4, 30KOs) and Vasyl Lomachenko are headed in separate directions for the fall. So how about a match-up between Salido and Takashi Miura (30-3-2, 23KOs)?

Another outstanding fight. Guaranteed war, but pretty much all Salido fights are. There are a ton of good fights to be made at 130, let's start getting some more of these guys in the ring!!

Not under-rated but under-appreciated maybe... All of his shows are war. HBO throw him in with Loma like a gold fish to piranha to make drama. This one is also guaranteed to be a war. I hope he doesn't give Loma****o a re-match and somehow gets paid well.

Okay when in the hell did the deal happen between Salido and Golden Boy? If it's true that Golden Boy is doing a co promotional deal then that's smart business.

Salido can be put in a lot of fan friendly fights.

Miura vs Salido would be an absolute toe to toe battle. I hope this fight gets made.

Golden Boy needs to finish this year on a high note and if they can make this fight it would go along way in fighting off those who believe they are in trouble.

They probably had a clause in the bout agreement for the Vargas fight, where they get several options on him.

What is your problem dude? Lomachenko fights the best in his 2nd fight, in Texas, with a dirty referee. His opponent Salido comes in over the weight limit, then rehydrates over 10 pounds heavier than him on fight night, then fouls all night, and Lomachenko still fights him even, and hurts him late in the fight.

But you don't think he deserves a rematch? It was incredible to see people rooting for Gary Russell Jr. when GRJ had fought TBA's for 30 fights or whatever, never fought anyone. But Lomachenko tries to fight the best in his first fight, and Top Rank allows it in his second fight, and you won't back a warrior like that?

Just think about it, in his first ten fights he chased Salido and Gary Russel Jr. 90% of fighters haven't fought guys that good in their last ten fights, let alone their first lol.

Lomachenko even offered Walters part of his purse to fight him. Who else is doing that? Not only chasing the biggest puncher in their division, but even offering part of his purse to make the fight lol? Who else? Name one guy who is doing that. Did Andre Ward go "Hey Kovalev, please fight me! I'll even give you part of my purse if you win because I want to feel your punch, and test myself against you, so badly!" No lol. It was "give me two big paydays for tuneups, and then put the fight on PPV so I get a huge payday, and then I'll do it. Probably. Maybe. Even though I didn't show up at the press conference, I'm squabbling over the venue that was already agreed to, and the fight is still not signed, apparently."

But you're against Lomachenko? Just ridiculous. If you're pissed about the Salido negotiations, the problem is HBO's budget. For these low weight class fights they are used to paying a big purse to one guy, and a small one to another, Ward-Brand style. The problem is both Salido and Lomachenko view themselves as the A-side in this fight and that means two big purses for one fight. Where if Salido fights Miura, Miura will probably get 100k or 200k or something and Salido might get 700k. So 800k or 900k for the whole fight. But if it's Salido-Lomachenko, they both want 800k+ for the fight I believe. Lomachenko is the champ, and Salido believes he was robbed in his last few fights, and that he should be coming in in the winner's bracket, purse wise, too.

That's the problem. HBO's budget is a joke. What they should really do is put it on the Canelo or Kovalev-Ward undercard, but even with PPV sales it might be too expensive for an undercard fight. They're not expected to be huge PPVs, sale wise.

Anyway, don't blame Lomachenko, who is doing everything right, and who is an amazing fighter with a pretty entertaining style. Not GGG entertaining, but a nice mix of a kind of Rigondeaux skills with more activity and combinations like a Pacquiao. Obviously he's not as entertaining as Pacquiao but as far as pure boxers go, guys like Ward, Rigondeaux, Floyd, Hopkins, he is definitely the most entertaining style with the most fluid combinations and so on. So don't be a "hater"!
