Is it wrong to root for a fighter just because he is the same race or ethnicity?

no one on this site has the right to judge the character of a person that they don't even know on a personal level

this is a boxing site, not Jerry springer or court tv.

many of you people judging Floyd or other athletes have done the same things they have, some things worse but the difference is, you are not in the public eye and keep your skeletons in your closet.

No we don't have the right to judge a public figure who is all out there and has spent time in jail for beating up woman he spends time affiliated with known PED cheats

No, nothing wrong with rooting for a fighter because he's the same race or nationality as you. Nothing wrong in showing pride for your own culture.

The problem I have is when certain fans only support. fighters of their own race and **** on any other fighter who isn't the same race as them. Boxing is a multicultural sport and there are great fighters of all races and nationalities that deserve respect and appreciation.

personally i don't care if you're black, white, blue, purple, or from mars. If i like you as a fighter i will root for you

if a blue fighter came on the rise i would not support him until he fixed it

I don't care who you root for. If you show more affinity for people of your race, cool. I care who you do NOT root for. If you don't like a black fighter just because he's black, that's a big problem to me.

This is a boxing forum, not a nationality/ethnicity forum. Appreciate the sport and all fighters in it or GTFO.

It's wrong when it prevents you from behaving/discussing fights objectively.

You can root for the same race/nationality all you want, but if they aren't the best fighter in the conversation, admit it. Own up to it. Admit the flaws.

That's where the real problem lies.

It's true that most of the Mayweather fans hate Loma, and most of the Walters fans hate GGG. It's also true that the Mayweather fans love Walters.

But I don't let that bother me, I expect it. If they want to hate Loma because he's white or hate GGG because he's not black, that's their choice.

I don't hate any fighter unless they are of bad character or are cheaters. I do root for my own race.

Truth is, human beings usually root for their town, family, country, and race in sports. It's natural and instinctive to do so. Everybody does so except for a few priggish white people who feel they are special and morally superior.
