This is good for Ortiz if he can still get decent fights, he wasn't making much with GB. But if he ends up fighting like once or twice a year, cause his promoters suck this will be a waste.

I personally think he's gonna KO Ustinov, as long as he don't get poisoned or anything

So does this mean Ortiz is off HBO now too?

Seems like a bad move, but pretty standard for a Cuban pro. Even as a Cuban amateur turned pro fanboy I can see those guys are ****ty at boxing business/career decisions.

This is weird. I feel like this dude is getting extorted by management/co-promoter. They paid GB to get him out of the contract, and now he will owe them for years.

                Cuban Fighters

Out of all fighters the Cuban's are the best at destroying their own careers. Gamboa, Rigondeaux , and now Ortiz joins that list.

Their careers are not destroyed by drugs, gluttony, or laziness, but by very bad business decisions. They just have terrible judgement. Instead of making decisions based on what a promoter has actually done for them they base it on who kisses their ass the most and who sucks up to their ego most. They always seem to side with small inexperienced shysters who do nothing but suck time and money out of the Cuban fighter.

Now Ortiz joins the list of fighters who have thrown their careers away. Golden Boy did a wonderful job with Ortiz, but now he has chosen to put his career in the hands of a bunch of leeches.

Hopefully it works out for him but it seems a pretty bad move.

He was getting some decent HBO slots. It's not like he's now a free agent and can go anywhere else, then it might be understandable. He's with a two-bit promotion company that nobody has ever heard of and no influence to get good airtime or anything.

I fail to see how it was a good move.

I doubt this works out for him. He's probably done.
