Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Trainer Doubts Andre Ward's Chin Can Last Twelve

John David Jackson, trainer for WBO/IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (30-0, 26KOs), is confident that his fighter's power will break down Olympic gold medal winner Andre Ward (30-0, 15KOs) on November 19th, likely at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

    It's true

I see him lasting 12 but getting dropped once or twice which will make him lose by decision

Jackson is grabbing at straws. He knows what he's up against and knows his guy isn't likely to ko ward.

Ward protects his chin too good to get ko'd.
kovelev has ko power for sure, but just dont see him dropping ward at all, landing sum good ones yes, knock out dont think so.
i got ward winning by split decision.

Well it might not have to. I expect Ward to win close but clear. 8-4, but he gets knocked down early a la Hopkins but perhaps more hurt. He'll recover, gather himself himself for a couple rounds, then take over.

This ***** been real chatty lately. Sounds like he's trying to convince himself that he's not up against it.

I really dont understand all this "weak chin" talk. Hasnt Andre only been knocked down like once? And he's not exactly the stand there and trade blows type fighter. Sergey os going to have to get through Wards defense to test his chin, and that's not going to be easy to do. I do see a small window of opportunity when Ward throws that looping hook and goes in for the clinch. A well timed overhand shot could hurt him as he's coming in. Landing it is going to take a lot of good timing and a little bit of good luck. I expect this to be a great fight between two world class fighters

Yeah right. Ward ain't what he used to be. He's slower, no longer prime, and preparing himself for Kovalev who is the most dangerous person he's ever fought by fighting who? Slow as molasses Barrera? SMW Brand who's 40? Sounds to me Ward just wants some fast good paychecks and then ditch boxing.
