Comments Thread For: Kell Brook Explains Why He's So Heavy For The Golovkin Fight

Brook says the extra poundage is intentional and based on a strategy formulated by the entire team, which includes head trainer Dominic Ingle.
"I'm normally heavy. Not as heavy as I am now but with the science behind it, I've been working my legs with the weights but keeping the speed and movement. I've been using all the ring and probably a bit too much, getting used to moving a lot because anything that can happen on the night," Brook told Sky Sports.

I see no need to go down to your level of ignorance and pre conceived ideas based on media and marketing.
Do a quick Google search. You might learn something.
For once.
I did ^^
Brook is a welterweight !

Brook's normal camp for a WW fight was usually 12-14 weeks and the emphasis was cutting weight to make the 147 lb limit.
This camp is only 9 weeks and Brook is still cutting weight but only to the MW limit which makes things easier for him.
That said this is a whole new experience for Brook, Golovkin, meanwhile is on automatic pilot, doing what he always does to prepare for a fight and one thing an athlete thrives on is routine.

If Kell Brook looks like that weighing 176lbs and he still has to shed that 16 lbs, he's going to look great on the weigh-in.
However, for me, whether you look out of shape or not isn't the only determination for how you will do at the higher weight, it's your overall skeleton frame. Smaller hands, smaller back, shorter reach/wing span. Those are some of the fixed statistics that can't be changed by going up in weight and is where the bigger guy has the noticeable advantage. Look at their shoulder to shoulder length and compare.

OK, I googled them as well.
Khan is also a welter, and Smith is a JMW.
Will Golovkin be fighting them next ?
Or, are the Bradley rumors true ?
