On a serious note cotto has alot of excess body fat he could afford to shed. He is not a middleweight, he should be fighting at147 max. If he kept in shape between fights he would not have to kill himself to make 147. He doesnt have a big frame. However i would love to see bradley mop him up at 154. Used to be a cotto fan until he started with all that diva bs

Really? If ur referring to Floyd, which u im sure u r, he is the one who set the precedent for fights like this that rob people of their money but Floyd fans are in denial , hes influenced a culture tht boxing is not about giving the fans their money's worth but about the easiest cherry picking fight for tons of money. All of sudden people want to criticize current boxers for this but Floyd is the one tht made it popular

I bet Showtime would pay Cotto his money for a Lara fight.

Castillo twice, Corrales, Judah, Oscar @ 154, Hatton, Mosely, Marquez, Cotto @ 154, Canelo @ 152, Maidana twice and Manny Pacquiao! Not bad cherries to be picking! "And still the undefeated, undisputed, welterweight champion of the world...."

But good try though.

Cotto and Canelo promotions don't actually get paid, they were primarily for name recognition, for this event. The promoters were Golden boy and Rocnation. The numbers you put up are for domestic PPV and live gate. They do not include international, Puerto Rico, theatres, and live viewing events. They dont include merchandise, or replay. Cotto's deal with Rocnation also includes cross-promotions with Rocnation and Migiel Cotto promotions from which Rocnation as well as Cotto stand too make a signifacant amount of money from Cotto's fighters and future events once Cotto retires. So your numbers are a bit skewed.

20 years ago this kind of fight had an appeal because of name value. Today, with social media..not really. I loved Cotto, he was a warrior. But a fight like this is like a tick on a dog. Fans are the dog and promoters are the tick.

I knew that the numbers I posted were a rough overview. Where I left off the international tv rights, merchandise, site fee, sponsorship, and other revenue streams; I also didn't include the other fighters purses, Nevada's 9% live entertainment tax on the live gate, a multi city press tour, or other costs associated with the event. So I'm sure that while there was more revenue in the pot, there was also other expenses amassed. I only cited the larger numbers for a general overview. So yes, I'm sure that the profit from the show was larger than my figures showed; but I also recognize that there were more hands in the pot than just Roc Nation. Golden Boy got their share as well.

I'm also a little lost on how Roc Nation could stand to make a significant amount of money from Cotto's fighters when his promotion company needs name recognition.
